it is comedy gold is what it is. Always knew AG were not a serious club, experienced lads giving the ball away when not even under pressure, bad kickouts, not dealing with hit-and-hope long balls and running the ball into trouble. Everything what is wrong with Leitrim football at present. They will not be in next years final

I see the teams for this weekends Railway cup are in with Keith Beirne on the bench. I'm surprised to see him taking part when he still has a Connacht club championship to play.

Senior Final - Mohill shaded proceedings. In general they are a better all round team than SOH. SOH have some decent players but Mohill are battle hardened and their ability to control the tempo of the game was way ahead of SOH. They gifted the turnover for Priors Goal - reminded of Kerry v Dublin in 2011 - Kerry far ahead of the Dubs but they messed about and let McMenamin in. Prior was brilliant and Jordan Reynolds looked back to his best. Shane and Conor Quinn were really good and Flynn was a deserved MOTM. McGirl did a fine job on the whistle

Junior Final - Bors the better side by a stretch. Eslin as usual relying on their "generational talents" to keep them in it. Bors will find the going tough at inter next season with three coming down. Some good players but they need everyone fit(ter) and firing. Moran still the standout and the Mulligan brothers good workers. Conroy is getting on. McMorrow was solid on the whistle.

Inter Final - Unbelievable finish for right and wrong reasons. Allen Gaels will never get over this I feel. Incredible way to lose a match. They emptied the bench and were saluting the crowd coming off - that says something about the mentality in the group. They were way the better side - by a long shot. Credit to Kinlough for sticking at it but that's where the credit stops. They were an absolute disgrace the way they conducted themselves both on and off the pitch. They clearly set out to intimidate the ref and the hysteria they whipped up was unbecoming. The scenes at the end of the game were scarcely believable and a shameful day for football in our county. The bloke responsible for flooring the official should never be seen along the line in Leitrim again - his comments in the media after were abhorrent also. Dolan did very well considering the atmosphere. Lets hope the CCC act accordingly and dish out the necessary bans. Melvin Gales will come straight back down next season."
"Melvin Gaels will come straight back down next season". Just like we will never get out of intermediate

I watched it. With 27 mins gone and 8 points up it's completely natural to give a few subs a run out. If they had won by 10 and used no subs there would be an outcry also and fellas that trained all year would leave the panel cos they didn't get a few minutes. Even the commentator had no hope for Melvin as he said after the first goal if that had come 10 mins earlier it would have made an interesting finish. Allen Gaels basically had 3 attacks and scored 3 goals and it's the players on the pitch at that time that must shoulder the responsibility. There was no marking nor any kind of a defence. It was the equivalent of National School Mini sevens played in a Intermediate Co Final

Of course it's natural to give a few subs a run but jeasus a complete capitulation in 6 minutes is shocking. 1st goal goes in, back to 5 & no one thought we better manage this game out to the end? You've give out to u14's if they lost a game like that in 6 minutes. Kinda shows a level of cockiness on AG's part and for that they deserved to loose. Sums up the attidute of some clubs in the county at the minute.... all fur coat no knickers.

Agreed every experience sum that came on made mistakes be better if they brought on the younger lads. Idk what happen for the last goal not sure how Clancy got to the ball first with three AG lads around him. Although Clancy should of seen the line for his tackle 2 minutes before that.

That's an amazing stat that Bornacoola hadn't won a championship with their first team since 1957. I'm guessing that before they decoupled league and championship in the early noughties (i.e. senior championship teams were all Div 1 teams too, and so on down the line, relegation was league-based, and promotion was via league and by winning a championship), they would have gone up and down the divisions through the league, and after league and championship were separated, they only got promoted due to championship reorganisations.

But apparently it was the longest wait for a championship with a first team in the whole county. Even St Osnett's won one since then. I wonder for each club, what's the year they last won a championship with their first team?
