Replying To gaelsboy:  "Thought SOH would have been closer to Mary's, SOH looked very strong in the Spring League compared to Mary's but guess they're two different competitions and sounds like it was a rubbish game, both teams afraid to go all out and show their full hand this close to the competition that anyone really cares about.
The senior games look pretty straightforward alright, I'm expecting a lot of defensive low scoring games"
Judging a team on spring league form is silly. SOH won't make the championship final

Any word on how he played?

What happened to the SOH forwards yesterday? 3 points in a final is very poor. Marys defence seemed very calm on the ball but very dreary to watch the ball move from side to side of the halfway line.

Gaelic football is dying. All Ireland was rubbish too as well as the division 1 final last night

The big takeaway from this result is how a talented manager with buy in from players can achieve the impossible if given time.

Big takeaway is he is from the county he manages, so he really truly cares about how the team is doing. Which all inter county managers should be imo.

Unfortunately if you were to follow that logic Leitrim would never have one anything , not least the Connacht Championship in 1994.

Maybe they would maybe they wouldn't. Only took that great man two years to win a title however, not ten. And we were last at our most competitive in the championship when a Leitrim man was in charge.

I can assure you 1994 wouldn't have happened without John O Mahony.

Who from Leitrim would you pick for the job if it was confined to Leitrim natives.

Great point. We've a few decent footballers here but we need 20.

the league final was shocking, hopefully the championship improvement on that. i would imagine Ballinamore at this point aren't real contenders for the championship with Mary's and probably Mohill & maybe Fenagh ahead of them.

That's a good point. We have a very poor record of developing coaches in Leitrim. We are more than happy to have coaches from neighboring counties. Not many Leitrim coaches go the other way.

Some good up and coming Coaches in the county but none that are ready for intercounty management. Any of the current managers that have went club hopping aren't at the level required. Someone who may be in budget is Davis who managed both Mohil and Longford. If it's a penny pinching exercise then he could well be the best of the bunch

Davis would be a huge upgrade on Andy Moran.
