Replying To Square_B:  "100% spot on. Malachy O'Rourke would have zero interest in Leitrim. If Mickey doesn't fancy the job I would go after Padraic Davis if available. Someone like Declan Bonner or Eamonn O'Hara could be an options but hard to know what their interest might be. Anyhow all of this is fairly pointless unless more money is invested in underage... the rest will follow if it is."
Agreed. Those mentioned managers would better put in place of minor/U20 sides to get the best out of the players there and transition as many as possible over to seniors. The goal should be survival in Div3 and last 8 of tailteann cup and would be a great achievement but more important to be developing young players so that in maybe 5 years time we could be top of Div2 and pushing for a place in SM competition, as it stands we just do not have the player depth as not enough good players were brought through and still playing

Replying To 3rdmidfielder:  "Absolute nonsense. The county board were taken back by Andy Morans resignation. No penny pinching involved during Andy Morans time in Leitrim, it is disrespectful to say there was. Andy Moran got out at the right time for Andy Moran, his stock is a good bit higher than it was at the end of the disastrous 2023. Andy should never have got the job, what were his credentials? One year as a player/manager with his own club and a podcast!! If Mickey Graham takes the job his CV is much much better than what Andy's was.

Malachy O'Rourke don't make me laugh. Malachy would get his pick of inter-county jobs. Watty Grahams would bet us if we played them have better players.

Let's be realistic when it comes to mentioning Andy's replacement.

If it's not going to be Mickey Graham we need someone who has maybe more on their CV than one year as player/manager and a successful podcast."
If someone like you was involved with Louth you wouldn't even have picked up the phone to contact Mickey Harte you'd have said it was a waste of credit. That is exactly what's wrong with Leitrim. What's the harm in asking the question of the very best managers out there all they can say is no. It makes no sense to rule the best out without asking and the ones that would just fill a gap have them top of the list. I assume you are on the county committee in
Leitrim

I am not on the "county committee in Leitrim" but I have enough cop on to know that Malachy O'Rourke won't be the Leitrim manager next year.

Assume you were picking up the phone to him what would you say to convince him to take on Leitrim and remember you don't have an open cheque book.

Was at the Leitrim Gaels Fenagh game tonight. Leitrim r awful poor. Barely got a kick!! Fenagh won well as they should. Was disappointed not 2c them rattle d net a few times. Surely division 1 must be divided up into A and B grades now?

Manor and Melvin Gaels promoted, Drumkeerins loss in Ballinaglera cost them promotion. Is it Ballinamore and Carrick division 1 final?

This committee made a radical appointment in Andy Moran

Before that they got Terry Hyland.

Who would be on your wish list"
Radical is one word for it alright

So Paddy Christie is gone... we'd want to get Mickey wrapped up quickly or Longford will. He'd surely be interested.

Junior A draw was made.

Group A
Bornacoola,
Cloone,
Gortletteragh B,
Eslin

Group B
Glenfarne,
Annaduff B,
Melvin B
Manor B,

With 3 teams from Intermediate coming down this year, this is probably Cloone's, Bornacoola, and Glenfarne's best opportunity for promotion.
It will be a lot harder next year.

You beat me to it! With his history with Mullinlaghta I'd say he'd definitely be interested

The Longford job would be the pick of the two jobs for an outside coach imo. Rock bottom under PC, a number of players didn't commit. Things can only get better. It might come down to the money available!!

Glenfarne are struggling this year.. they were a lot stronger last year and finished bottom of Division 3.

Cloone or Bornacoola but leaning towards the latter.
