Congratulations to Sligo. First ever Connacht U21/20 title for them. Very poor quality Connacht U20 championship. Sligo were afraid of it for most of the second half but got 2 goals courtesy of mistakes by the Mayo keeper. Roscommon can look back on what might have been. Another one that got away unfortunately. Best of luck to the Yeatsmen in the All Ireland semi final but I doubt they'll go further.

Replying To The_analyser:  "Sligo as expected our semi final opposition on May 1st, Markievicz Park a less than happy hunting ground for us but unlike the U20s last Wednesday we'll bring hopefully bring our shooting boots to this championship game. The panel had a training weekend in Donegal with a useful challenge against the tir chonaill men.

Best of luck to our minors/U17 footballers on Friday in Tuam, its back to the group format with four certain games, i'd wonder how U20 would fare with that format?"
I see the game has been brought forward to Saturday evening at 5.00 30th April. Any update on how the challenge went against Donegal? Hopefully no injuries from it anyway. Great win for Sligo U20's also. A badly needed morale boost for the county. Delighted for them

It's been known for months that the Sligo races and our game was set for May 1st, Moving the game forward 10 days before it is poor form by the Connacht GAA /Garda. Most myself included has to change plans for that bank holiday weekend now. Some are unable to attend due to this switch now.

Was talking to a number of Sligo supporters after the New York game, said they are quietly confident for this upcoming semi final, no fear of Roscommon and have a good championship record at home to the Rossies.

13 point beating in Tuam our heaviest defeat at this grade in Connacht since 2018 also against Galway in Tuam. That year we ended up reaching the Connacht final and AI quarter final so early days yet in the competition.

On the evidence of tonigh major improvements required. We were wide open defensively and struggled on kick outs short or long. Forwards showed some promise and probably should have scored more than 1-12 against what was a well drilled Galway defence.

Galway looked very impressive. Some good individuals on the Roscommon team but overall we were totally outplayed on the night. Ros v Mayo next weekend. We'll know more about where we're at after that.

Ah look it's a bloody tough place to go and Sligo will hit us with everything. Alsligo won't fear us and if our lads are 100% up for it we will end up in a pure dog fight

With all due respect to Sligo, they are a Division 4 team and if we can't beat them( and with some ease) in Markievicz park, Roscommon really have no business thinking about winning a Connacht title away in Castlebar or Salthill.

No business? There will be no Connacht title to win in Castlebar or Salthill if Roscommon lose to Sligo.

My point is that if we can't beat a Division 4 team, we'd hardly beat a Division 1 team. I expect Roscommon to beat Sligo and qualify for an away Connacht Final against Mayo or Galway.

The Roscommon players and management wouldn't want to have your mindset. The focus needs to fully on Sligo and zero talk about a Connacht final until Sligo are beaten.

Sligo was on course to beating Cavan recently and that game swung on a goal keeping error. The same Cavan today hammered Antrim in Belfast

Nothing I said implies that Roscommon shouldn't fully focus on Sligo and I'm sure they will. I think it's fair however to say that Sligo are not as good a football team as Mayo or Galway. My point is that if Roscommon aren't good enough to beat Sligo, then they wouldn't be good enough to beat Mayo or Galway. Do you disagree with that.

Roscommon weren't good enough to beat Sligo in their last championship game against them in Markievicz Park and a few years later was good enough to beat Galway, Mayo.

There will be no Connacht final unless Sligo are beaten, focus on the match in front of you.

No business thinking about a final he said. Yes because there will be no final by losing semi final.

A few years later. Roscommon will beat Sligo. We've lost matches at all grades in Markievicz park that we should have won. Self inflicted losses mainly including our recent U20s. I think we'll win there on what's now April 30.
