Replying To Keephimthere:  "Total humbug of a game really for both counties. A rout of Sligo, which is going to be the outcome is no good to us or them. Leitrim, despite their so/so league are the best team by far in D4, and have 2 class players and a potential All star in Keith. They can test the Galway back line at least for 50 minutes but are likely to fold in the end. I expect Cunningham will play an FBD selection and not risk injury which is the big danger in these non-event match ups. Surely now that the shield championship is in place for lower tiers counties should be seeded for provincial championships in 2023."
Would he really risk playing a FBD selection to end up in a potenital dog fight with ten minutes left? Big risk for the result but also, should they win, depriving lads of a championship game ahead of a Connacht final against more than likley a Galway team who will have had two run outs. I could understand maybe one or two slight changes but anything more and they may regret it.

I can assure you we will not be playing a FBD league team. I expect us to name our strongest 15 so far this year.

That would be the most idiotic thing he could possibly do? Why would he deprive lads a championship match ahead of a huge game vs Potential Galway in a connacht final.

Definitely.. Cunningham Is no fool. Players need game time after 4 weeks off and if we win 4 weeks to final. Sligo are going to be tough to break down in markievicz park. I expect us to win but I always have had massive respect for Sligo football. They always seem to believe they can beat us on any given day .

I see the team has been announced and line out pretty much as expected. I see Hubert Darcy is named as substitute. I can't remember seeing him named in any match day squads in the league but I may be wrong on that. Interesting to see and a classy player to have as an option. Best of luck to management and players and I can't wait to hit the road tomorrow afternoon.

No I didn't see anything of him during league. Wasn't sure if he was injured or just had taken year out.

The usual bizarre post pops up prior a championship game and Keephimthere kept that tradition going.

Hussey a more natural wing half back in for Niall Kilroy the one change in expected strong team named. Unfortunate for Richard Hughes to miss out altogether this would have been his championship debut. Eoin McCormack is making his championship debut so best of luck to him.

A potential banana skin with real underdog weather. We need to be fully focused and deliver a performance to the best of our ability. The very best of luck to all tht Roscommon players and management tomorrow.

You have a real soft spot for Leitrim. Loads of your posts are taking up them and indeed Andy Moran even though Leitrim was doing better in 2019 under Hyland when they gained promotion to Div 3. This year at best the 4th ranked team in Div 4 a level well below Sligo and really nothing between themselves and London. Leitrim keeping it respectable will be the main aim for Andy Moran and Leitrim against Galway.

You know little about Anthony Cunningham and the history of this fixture if you expected Roscommon to name FBD line up. That was never going to happen.

If you manage to overcome Sligo. Only Louth won out of the highest ranked League teams this weekend as Mayo, Armagh, Laois, Offaly and Antrim all lost.

Roscommon will win if they are focused and prepared right for the game however if even a fraction of the mindsets of some posters here is filtered to the players minds a shock is possible.

Remember anything can happen in a game of football. The weather may be poor, Sligo could play the low block to frustrate Roscommon and blacks or reds could be shipped out. Only this year Roscommon drew 9 each with Clare and if Clare and Sligo was to play next weekend there wouldn't be a whole pile between them."
To be fair, only Offaly was a real upset. The other teams were reasonably the same level - being in either the same division or will be in the same division next year.

This is a division 1 team vs a team that struggled in division 4."
Antrim having fought so hard for home advantage and was not expected to get hammered by Cavan. Laois Hammered Wicklow a few weeks ago a huge turnaround in that game. Most would have expected Mayo to win narrowly than the other way round. Armagh simply didn't perform again.

Roscommon played their league football in Div 2 and won the title in Croke Park. The same as 2015 before playing Sligo away whom are around the same level of quality now. Roscommon will win by a bit to spare if they focus on this match and nothing else.

Another defeat for our U17 footballers but a more competitive performance tonight. We made a lot of basic mistakes throughout to be expected at this level but Mayo made the least and that's why they got a deserved win. Galway beat Sligo by 16 tonight so we are still in with a chance of reaching the semi final/play off by beating Leitrim, Sligo.

Rory Carthy, Heneghan was among our best players tonight. John Curran showed well when introduced. Wishing Tommy Morris a speedy recovery who picked up injury 1st half.

And well done to the Mayo man from their mgt team roaring at our free takers in each half as we kicked frees . At one stage in second half roaring at young Carthy " he doesn't fancy it..He doesn't fancy it " A real class act at an u17 development game ! Placed behind the Mayo game each half . But sure they got the win and he must feel great this morning. God help him ! Lol.

Yes I hadn't heard that either. Best wishes to him. The Strokestown man is a big loss to Roscommon. A fine footballer. I remember him as far back as the Minor semi final v Tyrone in 2013.,He was impressive at the back that day.

A very versatile player, could play in a few positions, certainly a loss to the squad if it's true..best of luck to Ros later today
