Pearses the deserved favourites for Sunday's final, any team that took out All Ireland finalists Brigids were going to be that and Pearses was always capable having won a Connacht title recently and from that final win against Knockmore they have added Declan Kenny,Caelim Keogh,Conor Harley,Conor Ryan,Adam McGreal,Eoin Colleran and Jack Tumulty to their starting 15 all players who have been part of recent U20 Roscommon teams so their strength in depth is better than it was when they won Connacht.

On Roscommon Gaels they aren't without hope. Playing in Hyde Park a ground which is their 2nd home. Last meeting with Pearses in the championship they won by a bit to spare which turned out to be the last match for Pat Flanagan in charge of Pearses. This year they did what they needed to in the group stages by topping the group. Got a tricky Quarter final tie against Boyle finalists of the last two years and were good value for that win. Last day out was more chaos the manner they manged to force extra time makes you wonder is this finally their year and 20 years without a senior county title is too long for a club like them to go without winning it but their shooting efficiency from the Glaveys game will have to improve a lot in order to beat Pearses, yes scored 1-19 but that came from 36 attempts.

Before that on Saturday on paper we should have a decent competitive Junior A final. No disrespect to Clann B but the more first choice clubs we get promoted up to intermediate level the better. Barry's have hit good form at the right time, David Keenan remains a big leader for them while county U20 player Cillian Campbell has impressed as has former county underage player Pauric Halpin but this will be biggest test and against a Clann outfit with plenty of senior club experience in Ronan Gavin,Cathal Shine,Graham Pettit etc

Lastly a pity both games aren't a double header in Hyde Park on Sunday but it appears we won't have double headers again until the new planned dressing rooms are in place. In the meanwhile they (county board) should have came up with more sensible ticket prices and with discounts for OAPs and students. The fact they haven't I expect more people especially neutrals will choose to watch the live stream than attend the finals.

CB doing their best to keep the attendance down.
They want €300 for a patronage scheme, €100 for win a house and now €25 for a single match which won't have much interest North of 4milehouse.

In fairness, they need to raise funds for Hyde Park and for the centre of excellence. I have no difficulty paying as a Roscommon supporter. I just expect the County Board to have a top management team in place to get the best out of our senior county team and that's not happening.

And where is this top management team to be found?
Derry who were 3rd favourites for the AI 7 months ago can't get any kind of management team.
I understand the need to get finances for Hyde and C of E but the CB should be trying to attract as many spectators as possible to the Final.

It's hard to find good Managers I agree. The Roscommon management team this season did seem lightweight though. I see Mark McHugh who lasted one season with us is gone to Westmeath . Still a long drive from the hills. I'm happy to contribute financially to Roscommon football. I want Hyde Park to be able to host Connacht Finals and Roscommon to have a centre of excellence that gives our players the best chance to develop. I agree that the County Board should be trying to attract as many spectators as possible to the county final. I hadn't known the price of tickets but €25 does seem excessive.

Great news about Ciaran Murtagh if true. Hopefully Cian McKeon, Conor Daly, Eddie Nolan etc might also make themselves available.

The fact he's partaking in this would suggest he's in for the County too.

It reflects the reality that Roscommon have the best and most talented group of players of any Connacht county at the moment. We are underachieving with the players we have and I've made that point on here before. No way should Roscommon have lost three times to Mayo this past season including two home championship defeats. We're capable of a lot better than that but opportunity passes if not taken. Six years next Summer since Roscommon won Connacht.

It reflects that the silly mind games are starting already. Kerry have only 2 recognisable players on it so if that's your thinking then they will hardly make the knockout stages. Maybe Roscommon players are mad to go up and win a game in Croker ?

It reflects what players are available due to club and other commitments and if they're that interested in the new rules trial games.

Jesus Christ stop making a fool of yourself. Players are interested in playing and I don't blame them. Id say it will be a great weekend with no pressure but Galway have definitely the players in Connaght.

Roscommon have won plenty of Div 2 league titles in Croke Park in recent years. It reflects Roscommon players have more interest in playing in these exhibitions games and have a manager that isn't wrapping players in cotton wool as Jim McGuinness has done with Donegal and McStay who among their 7 players there are 3 or 4 that wouldn't be first 15 on his team. McEntee and Sligo must not be too keen either as shouldn't be more London players than Sligo players on the panel.

Players still in Club Championships not considered.
We probably have more lads based in Dublin than Galway have.
Mayo and Sligo seem to be avoiding it.
