Very much the same lateral passing again. Eoin Mckormick the only one who seems to carry the ball with conviction forward. Ciaran murtagh is a huge loss. That game needed to be won yesterday and it will be a huge challenge to secure even three more points. Getting tired of the excuses to be honest. Haven't played half decent since Dublin last year .

Hard to argue with that. Ciaran Murtagh is a big loss. We're very poor at the moment but the hope is that it comes right in the Summer. I've seen quotes from Davy about training going well that bear no reality to how badly Roscommon have played in their last two games. I'd take a poor League if we can get to an All Ireland quarter or semi final but there will have to be a serious improvement from the team's current form.

Lateral passing is modern football not a side in Division 1 that doesn't do it. On day like last Sunday Hyde park it was not one for playing any decent football.

Davy Burke as he said in media on Sunday not looking for excuses even though our panel with injuries and opt outs isn't as strong as it was this time last year.

In the last last year we have played 9 games in Division 1 each and every game we were competitive in with the biggest margin of defeat 3 points. In the championship last summer we played three Div 1 teams winning by 4 v Mayo ,drawing with Dublin and game we lost to Galway by 4 that was in the balance until that final score.

We haven't had that type of competitive run against Division one opposition for a very long time. With five remaining games in Division 1 first and foremost we need to keep competitive and we are due a win in a match decided on fine margins.

Donegal's Mark McHugh who quit as Roscommon coach last November due to the amount of travel involved is to join Galway club Moycullen as a coach for 2024. I have checked on the map and Moycullen is definitely further from Donegal than Roscommon is.! Does anybody on here know the real reason McHugh quit the Rossies after just one season.

2nd round of the league lads i wouldnt panic - Championship is where it is at if we got relegated and had a good run into the summer i would take that - but i think if we can get a win against monaghan and do something in castlebar id fancy us to stay up. Derry in the final game could be interesting they could be through to a league final the following week by the time we play them

Disappointing result Sunday. I was in the Hyde and while the weather played a huge factor, it was a game we had to go and grab by the scruff of the neck and win. Conor Cox played well, Eoin McCormack also but some poor performances killed our momentum. Disappointed with the likes of Diarmuid Murtagh, Donie Smith and Cian Connolly. I know its only the league but I feel we are the type of team who need to have momentum going into the Connaught Championship - teams like Kerry, Dublin & Mayo can afford to have sub standard leagues because they will get stronger as the year goes on and be aiming for that All Ireland final.

The break comes at a good time for us - we have 2 weeks to get together and prepare for a tough trip to Croke Park. But we'l have Enda, Stack, Fallon, O'Carroll back and hopefully a more structured 15. Looking at how Monaghan took the game to the Dubs, I feel that is the best way to approach the game. Sitting back and defending our 45 will be no good.

Big few games ahead and hopefully we will be in decent shape squad wise going into the next few games

In my opinion staying in division 1 for a few years is massive. Monaghan wouldn't be getting to the last 4 without staying in division one for years. Division 1 is where teams develop into top teams and being relegated this year would be a disaster. Right now staying in division 1 for a county like ourselves should be priority.

If it was Travel he'd surely have left in July after the County season ended?

Club and county running off a split season now. You'll need to check with Mark himself to see if he can commit by the time the club championship season commences.

Good point. Travelling down from Donegal to Roscommon on long winter nights is totally different to travelling down from April to August. I believe he has three young kids so I am sure he might want to help out during school time. He is entitled to make that decision. I wish Endgame would give up on seeing things that may not be there. We now should concentrate on the future. He has a major chip on his shoulder about management and authority for some reason. John Evens, Kevin McStay, Anthony Cunningham. Who is next? He needs to start living in the real world. (Roscommon are 11th favourites at 66/1 for the All Ireland) As Analyser previously mentioned several top class players have not committed this year, which they are entitled to do, and several others are missing for genuine reasons. In fairness to Davy Burke, he did keep us in division 1 this year and hopefully will do it again. Time to get behind the players and management starting in Croke Park next week. The Dubs are 1/7 to win that match, so our expectations should be realistic. I am optimistic that we will see an improvement but some of our players could well be playing in a Sigerson Cup Final a few days before that match. Two top quality Sigerson semi-finals on tomorrow night. I would expect that they could be viewed on YouTube. Try higher education gaa or Sigerson cup and you should be able to see both matches live as they are at different times. Fancy Ulster University (Canavan brothers, C. Glass, E. Doherty etc) and UCD (Ben O' Carroll, Dara Gregg etc) to make the finals.

Keep your personal comments to yourself letsgetgoing. Two members of Roscommon's management team quit after one season and I did wonder why alright. There was plenty of talk when McHale left Mayo after one season.
There are plenty of good footballers in Roscommon. Brigid's brave young team showed that . I would never talk down Roscommon football like you with your bookies odds. Roscommon is a traditional football county and we shouldn't be 43 years and counting since a championship win in Croke park or 32 years and counting since our last All Ireland semi final appearance. Best of luck to Davy for the season ahead. I'm disappointed with our league form the last two weekends but as with Cunningham or others you mentioned, Davy's success as Roscommon manager will be judged by how we perform in the championship rather than how we play in the cold days of January and February.

If you read my various posts over the years endgame, you will very seldom / if ever see me running down a specific Roscommon player or a manager. I will back them if I feel they are being unfairly criticizised. I do try to praise the players and management team as best I can, even in difficult circumstances. Only last week you yourself, were very personal about Conor Cox. (Talking down as you put it!)

When you implement what you are saying about "keep you personal comments" about the players and various managers, you will have much more credibility.

I am not talking down the Roscommon team by quoting the bookies odds today for the Dublin match. Unlike yourself, I am dealing in facts and not hearsay and guesswork (Mark McHugh & Liam McHale etc.) It is up to the management and the team to prove the bookies wrong. Like all Roscommon supporters, I really hope they do, and will be in Croke Park to support them.

I'd agree with that. It has been huge for Monaghan. Ros need a few years there but it's a very hard balancing act to get right with Championship. It's OK for the likes of Dublin, Mayo or even Galway to get relegated now and again as they have been playing in the top division for a long time. But Roscommon haven't had that and it showed come Championship when we played top teams outside of Connacht. The lads coming through now like Ruane, O'Carroll, Higgins etc are cutting their teeth against the best. The Dalys and Smiths et al were learning their trade in the lower divisions. And compare that as well to the Dublin lads they would have faced in the two u21 finals who were breaking into a Div 1 Dublin team.

That's interesting. I didn't know that. A Manager is absolutely entitled to chart the course. He'll get the blame if it goes wrong.

Sport TG4 (YOU TUBE) are showing both Sigerson Cup semi finals tonight, with Roscommon players expected to line out with three of the teams.

6.30 UCD v University of Limerick.

8.00 Ulster University v Maynooth University.

Hope they all get through the matches injury free.

Apparently Ben O'Carroll came off early, any word on how he is? Very early yet but that would be a major blow
