Can you name one of two that's on it? Flynn himself is like an appointed Roscommon would make if they were in Div 3 not 1.

If Flanagan, Flynn, Hackett, Cribbin, Burke are the only options then Burke should be the front runner among them. Leitrim, Sligo and London have better managers than some of those other names there.

After months of searching the whole process doesn't look good. Roscommon would have been better off choosing a former player as manager as Galway did with Joyce and Mayo before hand with Horan and stocking the management teams with good coaches.

What former player?? And you know well if we did they would bring in players they played with as backroom team with dam all experience. I'd love to know the backroom teams of the names above

What Roscommon people were interested?
Only 1 Club nominated a candidate, PP/Flanagan.

I have come around to the thinking that it'd probably be better appointing someone from within the county and import good coaches but obviously that's not going to happen now based on the above.

We badly need a different type of manager than our previous two, who were very similar, and got the best out of the players available to them. The whole mentality has to change and game plans put in place depending on the teams we are up against. Its great of course to put in a massive effort every few years and take out Mayo or Galway in Connacht, but we have to move past that, and there is no reason we can't. We have enough Div 1 experience over the years to ensure calamities as v Clare do not happen. The new manager will IMO have to bring in lots of young lads and get them ready over 3 to 4 years.

A former player Who
Frankie Dolan, Shane Curran. Both have club management experience BUT.....

Any of many former Roscommon players that had success at club or underage level. If none are or were interested that's on the county board not making a Div 1 team with plenty of good players not interesting.

It's the duty of board to supply the cash to assemble a stocked management team and if they can't afford it they get the assistance of a money man. Mayo i might add are well backed by one under McStay as the county board have massive MacHale Park debt to pay off.

No drama at all. No one gave a deadline under Chairman said a manager would be appointed before County Final. That is still the aim.
I would be more worried with who Westmeath have manager than any names mentioned for our job. He will probably try bring him on next year, like when he got the brother to bring him on in last years county final only for them to bottle it

Agreed but did any former Roscommon player want the job.

Very sour of you there sourmilk93 but you did make me laugh.
I believe the WH players are very happy with the continuity so let's see how it goes.
Davy Burke should get the Ros gig unless Bernard Flynn and his backroom team can swing it which would a shock to me.

Bernard Flynn has Stephen O Neill (Tyrone), Noel Flynn s&c who was with Ross in 2019, plus an ex Clare coach to name but a few.

Davy Burke has no names per say on his backroom team per say and will only assemble if appointed. He has sounded out a few Roscommon coaches/selectors.

Brendan Hackett has Colm Nally (Louth) a very good coach by all accounts, an ex dublin player who is from Ballymun. Obviously Hackett has connections with Ballymun after winning Dublin title two seasons ago.

Pat Flannagan has Gerry McGowan Sligo, Ja Fallon Galway, Pascal Kellaghan plus two current Roscommon coaches whonare currently coaching teams.

So how to we see the county club finals going this weekend?

Have already given my view on the senior final. If a real wet day the covered stand that holds 3,500 should be near full and that alone should provide a good atmosphere. Great interest in both Strokestown and Boyle as i visited both this weekend nothing else is talked about there.

On before it is the U20 Div 2 final which i think Eire Og/Glaveys to win. Ballinameen/Elphin hit with a few injuries including arguably their best player Ronan Garvin

Saturday we have the two hurling finals. hard to see past Four Roads winning the U17 title and all logic points to them winning the senior title also but i have a fancy for Pearses especially if Daniel Glynn is on form.

Ladies final between Clann and Kilbride I think Clann should retain the title there.

We are in some state if that the best we can come up with fellas who wouldn't get the Carlow job. Why go for outside managers when there is better candidates inside the county.
