I see a county board meeting is called for Wednesday to appoint a new manager. Didn't the Roscommon county board chairman say one would be appointed before the 23rd? Waiting 12 weeks to make that appointment and looking at some of the candidates selecting surely the names in that selection committee won't be used for the next appointment. He's achieved no more than Flanagan in management and at least Flanagan has knowledge of Roscommon football. I'd have any of the others over him every day of the week. Hackett worked as a psychologist with Roscommon back in 2001. We won Connacht that year, our last Connacht Final win in Hyde park. We'll see what next week's announcement brings. I'd have liked a local Manager but it doesn't appear there were any local people interested in the job. We all know the commitment involved. As a County Board meeting was already announced for Wednesday you'd think they've already agreed on the name going forward. If Don is sprung at the last minute shades of the FAI and Jack Charlton! Well done Four Roads, slow starters but kicked on after the first quarter to win comfortably. Pearses only leading by 1 at half time with strong wind was curtains for them. Not a classic final over 20 wides and a lot of individual errors and If the goals don't come for Four Roads its hard to see them overcoming Tooreen next weekend but for now I'm sure they'll enjoy the celebrations. Superb performance by Roscommon's Aoife O ' Rourke tonight in defending her European boxing gold medal. Completely dominating the fight (5-0) at this level was very impressive. Congratulations also to Amy Broadhurst and Kellie Harrington in bringing home a total of three gold medals to Ireland. Davy Burke was on RTE tonight for the Leinster Club Championship and was asked about getting back into management with the Roscommon job mentioned. One of our most open championship decided with the last kick of the game, congrats to Strokestown really showed their true worth in the knock out stages with three hard earned wins. Real what if for Boyle who were led superbly by Donie Smith. The loss of Cian McKeon was obviously huge their top scorer and would have been good for a few points. Doesn't look good for him i really hope it's not as bad as feared. Strokestown lost Kevin Finn from their starting 15 and Paddy Brogan one of their stand out performer had to go off injured in the 1st half and it may have been a more comfortable win had they played the full game. One of most intense and high tension finals I've seen. 5,500 plus in attendance and the idea that the Hyde doesn't produce a good atmosphere and the stand is too far from the action is nonsense. All the best Strokestown in the Connacht championship if they defend as well as today they'll be competitive against the Mayo or Galway champion.
