It's hard to believe that I would see the day I would agree with a shamgael but there is merit in what he has said. The drain of decent players for whatever reason isn't good for club or county and having grand facilities won't necessarily make for better players.
Anyway. if we look at what the sham calls boring league football that could be more to do with his own Irvinestown team who seem destined for Division 2. Looking at the tables this is how things stands after yesterday's round with the top five highlighted in each league which is more or less what was expected.

In D1 I would predict both St Pat's and Belcoo being relegated with Devenish and Teemore being promoted. Some teams that have these grand facilities referred to by the shamgael have gone to the dogs in recent seasons and without naming them they are in north and east of the county. Blaming the co board for all the problems at county level isn't fair. I agree with shotgun about good players exiting as there isn't anything worthwhile to stay for. By the way where is our poster macca? Does exit too once the county football is over?

Both senior teams are depending too much on just one or two good players that have went further afield and the rest are made up of ageing players combined with cubs barely out of short trousers according to the Irvinestown gael poster. This issue seems to apply to Fermanagh club football in general. Recently, a considerable number of teams in Fermanagh have been fielding U20 players more frequently, and it is due to the struggle in finding enough players.
While it's a positive development to see younger players getting valuable league minutes, many of them may leave the county in the coming years, and the cycle will repeat.

Fair bit through the league now what are the thoughts of posters?
Derrygonnelly look to be favourites again this year with Belnaleck looking strong too. The harps look to have a nice mix of youth and experience which usually bodes well. Donagh look like relegation fodder already with the other spot potentially being Irvinestown. Good win last night for Derrylin over Belleek.
Div 2 looks like Devenish are going up and a three horse race for second between Teemore, Roslea & Tempo. No shocks there, big gap in quality between the top half and bottom half of clubs in Div 2, as usually does be the way. Lisnaskea are surely favourites for junior champ this year.
Any standout players this year from your own respective clubs?

In D2, I would say Teemore and Tempo with potentially Roslea for promotion. Roslea seem to have lost their appetite for the game.
It seems to be rather a dull league campaign this year so let's hope that change come championship time. Not sure why attendances are down this year.

We're heading into the last game of the league season, and it looks like a bunch of teams are scrapping for that second spot. My money's on Kinawley or Ederney snagging second place, depending on how things pan out.
I figure Derrygonnelly's got the upper hand against both Cil Naile and Ederney, unless we're in for a real shocker.
Can't believe how Erne Gaels started strong but then kinda fell off the radar in the league.
Donagh has had a rough time in the campaign, hearing rumours that some players jetted off to Oz and they've been dealing with a bunch of injuries too.
Irvinestown's got a do-or-die match against Erne Gaels to avoid the drop. If teams are tied on points, do they settle it with head-to-head or the points they've scored?

It's head to head if 1 team tied on points so Itown would need a 20 point swing 4 teams can make league final since they are scheduled against eachother so will be an interesting night

Game fixtures and predictions for this Fri 18 Aug @ 7:30PM as the league campaign rounds end. SFL D1 Rd 9 Belcoo v Derrygonnelly (The Belcoo humpty dumpties will no doubt get stuffed by the pubbers) Enniskillen Gaels v Ederney (Probably a townies win having the more experienced players compared with the weemen) St Pats v Derrylin (The better Donagh players have flown the nest so a guaranteed win the mummers) Irvinestown v Erne Gaels (Needs to be massive showing by our Molaise lads tonight) Bellanaleck v Kinawley (Love to see the Leckers win but a big call with players missing. The clockers may just edge a win) SFL D2 Rd9 Teemore v M'bridge (Can't see other than a win for the Teemore hillbillies) Devenish v Newtownbutler (Should be a win for the bears but wouldn't rule out a Newtown surprise) Lisnaskea v Tempo (i.e. the pansies v the rednecks with the latter necking a definite win)

I'm taking a shot at predicting how things might pan out in the Championship group stages, I have been way off in the past with my predictions. Curious to hear what others are thinking!
For Senior Group A, it's pretty obvious that Derrygonelly is the team to beat. Choosing between Belnaleck and Erne Gaels is a tough one - could go either way. My hunch is that Rolsea might end up at the bottom.
In Senior Group B, it's a real head-scratcher. Ederney, Enniskillen, and Kinawley are all contenders for the top spot. Enniskillen's been playing without key players most of the year. Ederney's got a bunch of young, speedy players. Kinawley's always got a solid set-up plan. Devenish did well in the league, but I haven't caught them in action myself.
Jumping to Intermediate Group A, Derrylin caught my eye in the league, showing off some skilful players. My bet's on Teemore edging out St Pats after their not-so-great run - never an easy match against the Hillbillies.
In Intermediate Group B, Belcoo managing to stay in the senior league might give them an edge in the Intermediate Championship. I'm putting Tempo ahead of Irvinestown. We seemed a bit disinterested and low on confidence during the senior league. Admittedly, I haven't seen Tempo play, so that's a bit of a wild guess. As for Newtownbutler, their mixed-league performance leaves me uncertain since I haven't watched them play.
Senior Group A 1). Derrygonnelly 2). Belnaleck 3). Erne Gaels 4). Rolsea
Group B 1). Ederney 2). Enniskillen 3). Kinawley 4). Devenish
Intermediate Group A 1). Derrylin 2). Teemore 3). St Pats 4). MaguiresBridge
Group B 1). Belcoo 2). Tempo 3). Irvinestown 4). Newtownbutler

It's an absolute disgrace that a game should have to be played for 90mins plus. Extra time, extra time is a joke. Where's the welfare of the players consideration it that? A penalty shootout would be a kinder option. The one thing we takeaway from yesterday's final is that no team is conclusively superior and the senior championship is all to play for.

Having 90 minutes of football in the league final with the championship on the horizon does nether team any good. These type of games are just asking for injuries. Good to see the men in blue put up a really competitive game, looking forward to the championship that bit more. This year's championship could be a lot more competitive than previous years. Always will be hard to look past the harps but teams such as Kinawley , Enniskillen , the leckers and Ederney will hopefully put a competitive edge to this year. Also congratulations to division 2 champions Roslea. Good to see them back where they belong

Like Macca, both have paled into GAA wilderness!

Quiet on here in midst of business end of the club championship.
Kinawley be very disappointed to lose Saturday after being 7 points up midway through second half but failed to score again, Derrygonnelly have a wealth of experience and it certainly helped.
Yesterday Erne Gaels raced out of the traps and did enough to keep the Gaels at bay. Should be a good final, only a week turnaround which could have impact if either team carrying knocks.
Erne Gaels will be very hungry and will want to avenge last year's final loss while Derrygonnelly always tough opponent plus would like another crack at Kilcoo after recent ulster final, after their antics at weekend certainly be lots of support for the fermanagh champions in that one.
Ulster intercounty championship draw just around corner now too on Saturday.

I feel Belleek may have played their final already but hopefully it'll be a great tussle.

The extra weeks break probably hurt enniskillen and derrygonnely, both got caught on the hop early but derrygonnely were able to get over the line and the goal finished the Gaels off. Should be a good final, be nice to see Belleek get over the line alot of hard work done over past 6 or 7 years. Will be tough going though.
