Replying To shotgun: "A really poor affair on Saturday, pretty much sums up our form since the league final. I feel there are too many passengers in that starting 15, hopefully the return of a few key players will now grant us the opportunity of actually playing our best 15 for the remainder of the competition. We will beat Laois at home this weekend , but unless something drastically changes that is as far as we are getting unfortunately. Either way I will be there cheering on the men in green." I don't think there are any gurantee's in this competition regarding results. Laois drew with Offaly in Tailteann group game, a team that beat us in the League.
That being said, you'd have to fancy Fermanagh but there have been a few shocks already in the comp. Look at Wicklow turning over Limerick and the success of Carlow so far. We came unstuck against a Div 4 team already in the comp, at brewster as well, so we can't go in thinking it's a case of showing up.
Hopefully with it being straight knockout football now that will do us some good. Unlike other posters here, if we manage to get a really good win on Saturday and get that confidence back, I would put us in with a good chance in the quarters. Cavan the most difficult (and comp favourites I'd say) but the other 3 I do believe Fermanagh could get a result, even after Antrim beating us at the weekend in a very tight game.

I mean carlsberg don't do collapses but if they did Antrim would be the template … anyway I am putting away my lofty notions for the county team that I had as I left breffni park a few short weeks ago .. as the results we've had since then make this a very jeckyll and hyde season for us… it's time for the real Fermanagh team stand up .. if we can" Ulster Senior Football Championship Titles:

Time for the Kesh GFC man to say sorry following his foolish words about Antrim. Thank you Kinawley man for identifying the poster and I pity that present club as he is likely to walk away from them too. Now to this weekend and if Fermanagh lose once again I believe team management should be hauled over the coals. Let's hope that attendance is improved.

Cassidy, C Cullen, Flanagan
McGullion, L Cullen, Largo Ellis or D McCusker
R Jones + ABreen or CJones
McShea, Lyons, Corrigan
Kelm, McGurn, Quigley

Least it's straight knockout now, so no excuses really if don't perform, proper championship game finally.
Same team named as named last week though was changed before through in, hopefully McGurn remains in starting team. Would agree with previous poster that like to see Corrigan and Breen start tomorrow too. Going to have to play well for full game to overcome a Laois team who can rack up big scores.
Lucky its Man City(who nobody supports) in champions league final tomorrow though sure it might sway the 50/50 people to stay at home, hopefully a sunny evening in Brewster with a decent crowd and performance.

With a home game might give us and the players hope but it will be down to the manager to sort the shortcomings. By the way I see the goalie bashing scribe macca is very silent at the moment! ps. yes Coa Lug, I agree, a bad result and for your information Laois finished 3rd in the NFL division 4 this year so you know what that means...Fermanagh should be the victors this weekend." That comment looks wise now Bigtoejoe

Another poor performance and deserved defeat for Fermanagh, the warning signs have been there since the league final in Croker v Cavan we have struggled badly.
Shocking against Wexford, beat a poor Leitrim team and played for 10 minutes just v Antrim, so alarm bells have been ringing long since the league final.
The first half is possibly one of the worst i have ever witnessed from a Fermanagh team, which has many to contenders to beat with over the years given some displays endured. The lack of intensity and willingness to kick the ball made it easy for a limited Laois team. The fact that Che Cullen had kicked the best score for us says alot. From the stand it looked like a few of the lads had taken their imminent flights to US a few days ago as they certainly wernt in Brewster Park this evening. When a player is getting taken off after 25 minutes in first half and isnt injured, it would suggest he shouldnt have been starting in the first place. Ryan Jones ill discipline has been shown through the years and again he punished his team with a silly strike before half time.
Some of the wides and shot selection at times were shocking, Kelm had 4/5 wides alone, his confidence looked gone. The start of the second half managed to claw it back to lead by a point before the customary goal gift occurred.
The extra man certainly took its toll in closing stages however Fermanagh still kicked some awful wides to get level on number of occasions. Laois made good use of the mark twice, the fact they kick the ball helps exploit this attacking tactic, the only player that took a Fermanagh mark was a player who hasnt got the ability to take such scores.
The best performers for Fermanagh on a poor poor display were Che Cullen, Flanagan,McGullion and Lyons.
Id say that be the last see of Decky McCusker, Breen, Ryan Jones and possibly Sean Quigley in a green jersey. Darragh McGurns absence has hit the team hard, id like to have seen Ciaran Corrigan on alot earlier. The league campaign is long since forgotten about about the last few weeks, based on these displays shows how much of a miracle it was Fermaagh got promoted to Division 2, staying there looks like will be a mammoth task right now.

Disapointing end to the season. The ref did us no favours but i don't blame him, you make your own luck. we did not turn up. Are passing and decision makeing was aweful.
Since the cavan game in breffni park we have not played well. we deserve to go out a win a draw and a lost to division 4 teams says alot about are standard at the moment. we are going to struggle next season.
We played adventurous football during the league, where we left a couple of players in the forward line and that allowed us to move the ball forward quicker and made us more dangerous. There was a mix of hand passing and kicking game. We had lots of different scorers. Think we ended up like the 5th highest overall scorers in the 4 divisions. adventurous the last few matchs we pulled more and more players back, playing deeper therefor there was no quick outlet and started playing slow side to side football and struggleing to score.
Sometimes you have to go direct we are reluctant to do that. At least have go. There were players afraid to shoot again there today. Apart from all the slow side passing a pet hateing of mine is the constant running into the conners haveing to turn back.
I said in another post that kelm could be a possible all star but his form fell of a cliff but hopefully in the future.
I don't think they were fit enough and need to improve in this section. There was numerous matchs this year were we had good leads but alound teams back in cause we could not keep that tempo up.
I would have kept sean and tommy mccaffery on. cullens were are best players today.
I would like to thank the players and staff, it's a lot of commitment throughout the year. I wonder how many will call it quits now.

Agree on a lot of points. That was one of the worst performances I've seen in a long time. But you seem to be writing a lot of players off for good. I would hope it isn't Ryan Jones' last game, as without him we are doomed at midfield. I would also hope it isn't Quigley's last game , as he is still by far our most naturally gifted forward (yes he was poor today). There are more pressing problems than the 2 mentioned above. Going by our championship campaign, next year is going to be a sobering year in division 2

I concur with your thinking about Donnelly playing a part in Fermanagh's downfall in this championship campaign. I wasn't at the game so I cannot comment on the players' performances. I wouldn't like to see Quigley or Ryan Jones pulling out. Some of the others are probably know that their contribution to the team is at an end. No slur intended on them as they have been significant in their time in the green and white jersey..

Ernedevil- agree with keeping Sean on, I know probably tired especially all the running back with 14 but still if needed player to kick point or free he the best chance had in closing stages
Shotgun, - couldnt agree more, both Jones and Quigley can still huge players for Fermanagh and along with others have given huge service and commitment, intercounty football a big commitment hopefully they still involved next year.
Certainly as other posters mentioned, management have to look in mirror over some decisions and errors that have been a theme throughout year and cost us during tailteann cup.

Fermanagh deserved the win in Breffni but Cavan were promoted while it was must win for Fermanagh. Fermanagh stole late wins against Antrim and Down in the league. 10 pts behind against Antrim at one stage?
Did the Cavan victory paper over the cracks?
