What do ye think about Galway winning no all stars last night? Connacht champions for 2 years in a row and zero all stars. For instance Sean Kelly IMO certainly deserved one as he is a warrior and even played on when clearly injured in the Mayo game. Damian Comer also had a very solid year. Derry won 4 all stars (the same as Kerry) but they still did not reach the AI final and Roscommon won an all star without even reaching the Connacht final. Is that fair?

Congratulations to Corofin. Fine victory over Ballina. Gary Sice still going strong.

Sean Kelly would have got one had he not got injured. Was in footballer of the year form up to that point. Don't think anyone else had done enough really.

Corofin will be having a good look at the tape to find out how an inferior side like Ballina scored 0-9 with the gale in the second half, the exact same as Corofin managed in the first half. With their possession and elements, I thought Corofin should have had a 10-12 point lead at HT rather than a 6point one. Referee had the common 'referee weakness' that he gave the weaker 'struggling' side soft frees, that eventually almost got them back in the game. Hard to pick the best 15 going forward, after that display. About 10or11 of that Corofin team are playing a lot better that the 'tailenders' imo. Big panel, lots of options if 4or5 more of them hit form in the next month or so.

As expected a very comfortable win for Corofin. Ballina a very poor outfit

Sean Kelly definitely deserved an All Star.

I assume the split Corofin in two brigade are warming up!

The whole All Stars thing is a farce. Of course Sean Kelly deserved to be there.

Sean Kelly is a savage footballer but when you look at the full back line that was selected, who would you leave out to make place for him ?

Of course Sean Kelly didn't deserve an all star. The team just didn't go far enough into the championship. Connacht titles were never of much relevance, but they are of none at all in the new format.

Derry had a number of top performing individuals. As was that one for Roscommon. Comer was mostly injured this year. How many man of the match awards or player of the week teams did Sean Kelly get listed on in 2023? All-Stars are picked by Journalists and that's how they choose them.

Sean Kelly is a class player.
But let's be honest he wasn't at his best in 2023. I don't think he played well enough to merit an All Star this year.
Also, I know Enda Smith got one - but I think Sean would have to have been exceptional to get one given that we were beaten in a preliminary quarter final. Not too often a team that doesn't even make a quarter final gets an All Star.

I know I keep going on about him but Patrick Egan really is a prospect. He seems to have all the skills and above all else has it between the ears. McCabe as well definitely has something about him, reminded me of Basquel yesterday the way he backs himself when he gets possession.

Very arrogant post. Margin of victory about right. Corofin kept Ballina at arms length. Best of luck to Corofin going forward.

A Connaught title will be the height of it

Connacht. Please. You're not in a London hotel now.

The referring was disappointing. The soft frees at the end when a single goal would have made a world of difference was very poor

Watching the game brought back all sorts of horrible memories of days standing in that park in the driving wind and rain when a kick from the swamp end would nearly end up on the roof of Scoil íde and a kick from the Rockbarton end would nearly end up there too.

Patrick Egan is an excellent prospect all right. Galway panelist for 2024 but I feel it will be 2025 before he has developed enough to add serious value. Not all his fault but Corofin were absolutely eaten in midfield in the third quarter and were Evan regan to stick that goal it could have cost them.
McCabe will also take a few years..showed all the skills to score 5 excellent points but needs to develop a bit and improve ball winning ( this will come I feel). The 2 new corofin players who I feel could add value sooner are gavan burke( yesterday not his best day I know) and odhran Burke.

Would have to agree about the margin. I thought that corofin got more of the marginal calls than ballina...but having said that they were genuinely 4 points a better team on the day.

Roscommon didn't even win the Connacht and they got an all star?
