Even if it hit someone else on way in she threw the ball so it was free out.

Sure that's exactly what they need to be reading right now. How about a well done to your camogs and footballers for reaching a final at all? No player in any sport in the world needs "supporters " like yourself.

Galway players never let you down a mhac. The ladies were excellent yesterday, very unlucky with that Cork throw goal. Why are there umpires? GAA needs to look at this. Cork got away with it so congrats to them. No fault on Galway. suckvalleypaddy (Galway) - Posts: 1706 - 12/08/2024 11:32:12 2564726 Link 1 |
Kinvara won't be easy bet this year. Good game in Gort at the weekend. Young Liam Martyn had a great game and they have 10 or so lads of a similar age all a year older and wiser now Kinvara (Galway) - Posts: 182 - 12/08/2024 11:35:42 2564729 Link 0 |
Did that ball go straight in off the drop to hit, or was there a snick off someone's hurl before it crossed the goalline? A snick would legitimise the goal? What is the rulebook rule that says dropping the ball to hit it, missing the strike, but ball advancing over the goalline makes for a disallowed goal? Apparently the linesman told Cathal Murray that if the goal did not stand, Cork were going to be awarded a penalty as Mackey was fouled in build up to goal

I'd still have Meelick-Eyrecourt and Tynagh/Abbey-Duniry ahead of Kinvara but definitely Kinvara on their day are hard to beat. Then Carnmore, Killimor, Abbeyknockmoy in the chasing pack!

It's unlucky for Galway because we had chances of scoring points towards the end but the wrong shooters.......if we had no 10 Donoghue taking them shots she would have scored

I agree, they played with great heart, skill and determination, a lovely brand of hurling. I thought the officials were poor, the ref and the umpires. There were some blatant fouls, especially in the second half that the ref chose to ignore. Cork are a good team obviously but too much running and short passing for my liking.

Are you sure you're not dead already with that kind of attitude!

I think you can take Abbeyknockmoy out of that after getting hammered by Clarinbridge second team.

No strike or contact with anyone's hurl. That was verified on the Sunday game and other clear footage. It was no goal. And we had two clear cut frees not given at easy range. Really, really annoying. Cork get the rub of the officiating green so often over the years.

Idiotic statement. Likely from someone who hasn't a clue of the sacrifices involved.

Absolutely, not a deliberate throw but threw it up to puck forward but no contact so it rolled over the line. Chop down and pull back on forwards in closing moments would have been a free in hurling. Gutted for the girls, teams deserve fairness and consistent refereeing.

Then they should have given the penalty. They can't decide to give an illegal goal, just because it should have been a penalty. Penalties can be missed. Watching it at the time, I thought it was clear enough she never struck it, as the ball never changed trajectory. The umpires should have called it. I also thought there was a blatant overcarry by the Cork player who played the long ball in for the goal. She never played the sliotar with the hurl, but held it for a long time. Galway we're big underdogs going into that match, but battled very well. Definitely had a few decisions against them too, but not much you can do about that. It's not good when Abbeyknockmoy get hammered by a Senior Clubs 2nd team!! It looks highly likely that either Beagh or Padraig Pearses will be relegated down to Intermediate this year! katser (Galway) - Posts: 2481 - 12/08/2024 14:36:23 2564774 Link 1 |
All this weekend thought us is that the big 4 of Galway hurling has not changed one bit. they are a few furlongs ahead of the pack. And out of those 4, the Town and Thomass are well out in front still. clare_sparrow (Galway) - Posts: 441 - 12/08/2024 16:25:11 2564799 Link 1 |
