Raphael's into the senior schools semi final against either Brigid's or Coláiste Baile Chlair. Gort CS out. Pres Athenry already into the final and are miles ahead in Galway this year.

Handy enough win for University Galway in the Fitzgibbon league final. A late goal for UL made it look a bit better but the second half was fairly one sided when Galway went seven points up. Alex Connaire the stand out. Classy hurler picked off a few points from play from wing forward. Charlie Mitchell and Gavin Lee made a difference coming on in second half. Colm Cunningham from Moycullen very good at 6 and Dan Loftus at wing back. Conor Walsh and Ruben David worked very hard. They were missing Liam Collins, Tiernan Killeen, Darren Morrissey, Eoin Lawless and Ian McGlynn who will all start for them once the Fitzgibbon starts in January. They should really be winning the Fitzgibbon this year with the squad they have. UL were missing Tj Brennan, Mark Rodgers and Gearoid O'Connor so will get stronger as well.

Best of Luck to St.Thomas' today v Ballygunner. It should be a great game and hopefully Thomas' win it by a few points.

Amen to that. Don't forget the Ladies also. Sarsfields going for another All Ireland and Kilkerrin-Clonberne are playing in a Final also. Best of luck to all of our great Galway representatives.

Have you had a bet on them? I've backed St Thomas's, with +10 points at 13/8 (Paddy Power). Only a small bet, with enough profit to buy 2 pints (here in London), if it comes in.

It will be hard for Henry to keep Shane Cooney out of the half back line next year.

Full credit and thanks to St. Thomas' and Ballygunner for serving up such a cracking game a week before Christmas! It is a shame that one of these teams is about to be eliminated on penalties but that's the way it goes.

David Burke, take a bow. First full game back after coming back early from a cruciate and to play like that. Unreal. Shane and Fintan could barely walk at the end. Eanna showed his class. Regan rolling back the years. The game plan was like something straight out of the Cody playbook against those fancy dan Cork teams years ago. Get stuck into them early and often. Never gave them time on the ball for that tippy tappy hurling. Fair play to Conor Cooney with three clutch frees in normal time and then a rasper of a penalty. Hopefully they go on and win it now.

Cracking game of hurling from start to finish.
And the introduction of penalty shootouts has been a great addition to the gaa imo.

Feel a bit sorry for ballygunner, my knowledge of club hurling isn't the best but I thought people were going a biteen too far making them such strong favourites for the game.

Congratulations, St. Thomas. Great win! Must try and watch a recording of the game. Heard it was proper in your face hurling. They certainly upset the apple cart there!

I got Thomas' +6 at Evans but lost Thomas to win at 9/2, so still made a little profit!!

The odds I got for +10 points were 8/13, not 13/8 that I stated in my above post.

Thomas' should win the final. The three county boys at the back for O'Loughlins are obviously class players but they have no forwards of any quality really.

So the Final is St Thomas's v OLGs. Congratulations to the KK Champions and hard luck to Cushendall. The two semi finals were brilliant and razor close. Should be a mighty final. Hon St Thomas's.

And people were saying Ballygunner "should" win before a ball was pucked yesterday too.

I'd love this comment to be put up on the wall in the OG's dressing room.
Although, I doubt St Thomas's will be thinking the same way.
