Great win for st Thomas's 11 points down and coukd have gave up but fought back and won. And missing a few key players too. The loss could knock a dent in clarinbridge confidence. Sarsfields did well to hold on to victory after their perfect start. Turlough were unlucky to get the draw.
Big win for portuma over mellows too. I say mellows will be shocked not to get promoted but thats how hurling goes

Fairly shocked coming out of the stadium as well with mountbellow skehana beating them in the junior A semi.

Good day for junior hurling with ballgar also making the final beating sarsfields who best us in extra time in quarter.

Meelick-Eyrecourt v Rahoon-Newcastle..........Eyrecourt
Killimor v Sylane..................................................Killimor"
Now we have a proper Intermediate Final Meelick-Eyrecourt v Killimor!
Every man woman and child from East Galway will want to see this cracker in the Duggan Park Ballinasloe......expect 10,000 at this game!!!

Replying To Throughthemidfieldhewasstormin:  "If the winners of the 'senior B' (intermediate in all but name, can't claim to be senior if your in the second rung) don't get to play in the intermediate all Ireland series, it's a load of BS. Having the incentive of that after would give it a lot more gloss. We're essentially sending our Junior A Champs (3rd rung) to an intermediate all Ireland then. It's robbing the second tier winners of entering the second tier all Ireland series....makes no sense. There is a third tier all Ireland for those below senior B then so not like they'd be missing out if you take that away, if anything it's better because they'd be playing teams at their correct level. I don't know, seems so unnecessary"
Am I right in saying that because Athenry came third in their group, they can now win the 2022 all Ireland senior championship but even if they do they can't play in the 2023 Senior championship?

Yes your right. Because of the conditions of the championship structure a 2 v 3 cross play is needed. To make 16 senior teams only the top 2 quality in each group get promoted

Crazy. And why won't the senior B winner play the intermediate winner like in Dublin to get out of the AI intermediate series?

is the qtrfinals open draws, and will the semifinals be open draws or what are the permutations for these draws i.e who can play who and who will avoid who. I would imagine the 4 already there will be seeded and play and of the 4 coming through the prems, and an open draw for semis. have i just answered my own question?

After the play offs it will be the senior b teams playing 3 and 4 of the senior A groups. Then the winners of the pre quater finals will be playing the seed teams in the quater finals. Semi finals open draw.

Seeded pre quater finals

Craughwell
Turlough
Clarinbridge
Will play either
The 2 Winners of the playoffs
Portuma
Oranmore

Seeded Quater finals
St Thomas's
Sarsfields
Loughrea
Tommies
Will play the 4 winners of the pre quater finals

Semi finals open draws

Depending on draws of course, i would expect to see Craughwell, Bridge, Portumna and Ardrahan in last 8.

You don't think Turlough will make the quarters?

You could add cappy to that list. Turlough would be in the top 4 or 5 in the county. Cappy on any day could trouble any of the Seeded quater final teams. Still will be interesting to see how the b teams do. Definitely couod be a shock result yet by one of them.

Who will win the All East Galway Intermediate Final?
My money is on Meelick-Eyrecourt!
Killimor making great progress the last few years, but they had handy path to Final......Turlough 2nd team and Sylane!
Hon Eyrecourt!!

Haha so our second tier hurling competition will just go nowhere.. just because we want the competitions name to start with an S rather than an I..

You can say Goodbye to Moycullen and Athenry for a start.
Turlough, 'Bridge and Cappy will sail into the Quarter Finals!
Whoever draws Craughwell will be delighted because that's a game Ardrahan, Portumna, Liam Mellows or Oranmore-Maree can win.

If you're asking me do I think Portumna would beat Turlough in the prems, the answer would be yes!...as i said it all depends on draw.

Exactly, this. It's the most embarrassing thing ever that we've invented a competition rather than just call teams exactly what they are.
