Biased as a James' mam but I felt horeswood were lucky not to receive a couple of black cards. comc (Wexford) - Posts: 108 - 13/11/2021 10:34:34 2389253 Link 0 |
"]There is always a bit of natural movement even in the country clubs. One of the better underage players in the local club went to the Martin's a few years ago. Dunbar went to Gorey. 2 players either way is hardly worth making a big deal of.

Spot on Pikeman. In our parish Camross won county titles and so I think did Trinity. St Munns won senior titles in the 50s. All were in the Parish of Taghmon.

Marys brought in Dylan owens , Alex lynch , callum and Warren broaders , Paul Murphy, Mark o Connor Shane dempsey think saying only 2 is bit it misleading thats what I can think of not sure all clubs but sars joeys vols clonard . All North end players prob few more too if I look at team list tommoorrow I ll post the rest"]Seen a good few of those lads playing for Wexford at soccer too. Obviously the 1st club they played underage for doesnt mean as much to them as it does for lads from clubs outside of town. Was that always the case going back over the years?

Our eldest is starting secondary school next September. They have changed the admissions process completely in recent years. I'd say the fact GC and Peter's etc can't select lads on the basis of their hurling and football ability any more might have something to do with their success on the pitch too.

Naomh Eanna, Ferns and tomorrow's losers as well. One of the most stacked grades in years. I do think with Tubritt, the two Dwyer's, Garret Foley, Daire Barden, Cian Byrne and surely some of their minors they should be well placed to make the step back up. Would fancy them to do so more than Horeswood anyway. beano (Wexford) - Posts: 1416 - 13/11/2021 17:28:39 2389299 Link 0 |

Think lot of the guys mentioned play with North end I m sure if u checked they would nt have staterd their soccer careers there either . Its something that happens in soccer more so as I think u can move anywhere you like at end of season . It becomes a mindset I d assume . Win lose move on to the next challenge or who praises and courts you the best . One thing I Don t understand is moving from higher level to lower level to win a medal and the privilege of competing then again at higher level. Seems a bit ironic unless you lacked anbition, effort or ability. Or maybe just don't like the club ethos or management could be either.

2 Senior ( Gusserane and St James) and 6 Intermediate ( Fethard, Horeswood, Cushinstown, Bannow Clongeen and Taghmon) from the Ross district next year. You'd need to be made of stone not to feel sorry for Fethard for relegation in both codes, although they've only themselves to blame today with 15 wides and 5 shots dropped short. Not inconceivable for them to win both Intermediate championships next year. bostonredsox (Wexford) - Posts: 4368 - 13/11/2021 18:21:00 2389308 Link 0 |
I must be made of stone. They've had 8 championship games this year and have won zero of them despite having enough chances to win them all. Onfor15 (Wexford) - Posts: 524 - 13/11/2021 20:25:44 2389321 Link 0 |
True although they were done out by blatant wrong let alone questionable officiating against Glynn which would have kept them up.

Childish and unnecessary cheap shot. To insinuate that he is to blame is ridiculous. Most players would say he is a very good coach and he has honours to back it up. Judging by other comments from you, it would seem you have been hurt by Horeswood in the past? Azamat (Wexford) - Posts: 39 - 13/11/2021 21:15:04 2389329 Link 0 |
I would say having a generational talent like PJ and three county quality forwards on top of that, yet leaking scores like a sieve is a system issue is entirely down to the coaching. Past heartbreak from them yeah, but no harm having rivals.

Winning them all - I don't think so. However there were games that they had the chances to win at vital stages that would have kept them up and they didn't. People can argue about the draw etc. but fact is they had their chances and this year were not good enough to take them, next year they may be back, who knows.

They certainly had a goal wrongly disallowed but it was a close and difficult call. It would have put them level in extra time with about 10 minutes left to play. On the basis of what we have seen from them all season, they'd still have found a way to lose it anyway. Onfor15 (Wexford) - Posts: 524 - 14/11/2021 09:48:08 2389345 Link 0 |

As they sag 'up the rock', and they love they're rocks.

Geographically speaking, what part of town would encompass Maudlintown? Is it the Talbot end of Main Street? And would the Joey's/Vols/Sars catchment encroach on Mary's? beano (Wexford) - Posts: 1416 - 14/11/2021 11:08:29 2389353 Link 0 |
To be fair beano apparently pj banville was injured and isn't a young lad anymore

Maudlintown is out that direction all right. Bishopswater (St. Jospeh's) is basically next door, but inland. You can actually see both areas marked on Google Maps here: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Bishopswater,+Wexford/@52.3286674,-6.4661839,16z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x48681b66ad5f37ff:0xdc5f3dd3dcc429f4!8m2!3d52.3289297!4d-6.468673 The term "catchment area" has a fairly loose definition in Wexford town, though. But basically, both Mary's and Joseph's would traditionally be looking to their own areas first, but have a few "outsiders" from elsewhere in the town too. Both Vols and Sars would be drawing from the whole town. Pikeman96 (Wexford) - Posts: 2241 - 14/11/2021 18:24:35 2389412 Link 0 |
