Mayo V Tyrone All-Ireland Football Final

I'm not sure Mayo can ever win Sam again, It's become too big a psychological hurdle. Look at the way they panicked in that second half.

No one gave Tyrone a prayer is a ridiculous statement.

Fair play to Tyrone. Better decision making under pressure. Mayo absolutely kicked it away. The penalty summed it up. Mayo will be back have no doubt about that but hard questions will be asked again.

Well deserved win for Tyrone. Played solidly if unspectacularly. Mayo were poor and Horan has to shoulder much of the blame. Poor choice starting O Shea , poor choice of penalty taker , blindness to Tyrone s long kick out ( the second goal was on the cards all day ). I said at the time that Mayo would be best prepared by playing the final ASAP after Dublin game. Too long a run in. Lee Keegan man of the match in my opinion. Deserved better.

Tyrone were very good, and won comfortably. Far more so than shown on scoreboard. Mayo were no worse than they were against a Dublin team way past their best.

Thought Tyrone's tactics, as against Kerry, were superb. Harte deserves credit for having kept them competitive since the glory days, but Logan and Dooher have turned them into formidable side.

Better team won. Well done Tyrone.

Aidan O shea shouldn't have .been still on the field. That being said team win matches and team lose matches not individuals

Well done to Tyrone. Serious improvement in that team this year. McShane, Canavan and McKenna bring a spark which was previously missing under Harte. Meyler and McGeary are awesome. Tyrone looked very relaxed today, full of confidence. Did this the hard way. Some achievement.

Mayo, I have to agree with the majority of other posters, lacked composure and from about 50 minutes onwards they seemed flustered. Full of energy but snapping at shots, misplaced passes. They looked rattled to be frank. They were in a solid place at half time. I just don't know what to say anymore about them, their final performances aren't good enough and today was as poor as I've seen to be honest. Which will really hurt them. Admire their heart but where to go from here, I don't know

Better team on the day won , mayo may be back but Jasus that curse gets more traction every year. The penalty miss was the end for mayo IMO.

Well done Tyrone. An excellent first half of end to end stuff but Mayo will rue those goal chances. Tyrone were better decision makers and were clinical in front of goals. Tyrone benefitted from the long kick outs and Mayo just did not perform to the level they needed to to win. Against Dublin they did when needed but Tyrone were a different animal today to Dublin.
In saying that Mayo can learn from the defeat and come back stronger.
Lee Keegan was absolutely immense.
Well done Brian and Fergal ! Top men.

Heartiest congratulations to tyrone, played well and fully deserved this win.
I said to my friend after ten minutes that Mayo would lose this.
Looked terribly nervous out of sorts, and Horans decision to leave o Shea in for the whole game beggared belief.

Congratulations Tyrone supporters, your team did you proud and deserved to win. They minded the ball better and took the chances that came their way. Mayo seemed to fatally repeat the same mistakes Kerry made, but these are the terms of playing which Tyrone sets and they're very effective. Well done again and enjoy your celebrations!

Great to win, don't take any satisfaction to have to beat Mayo to do so though. Pity we couldn't have had a cut off Dublin in the final ...

No one in the media gave them a prayer......maybe you don't have RTE down in Limerick. Yes few gave them a prayer. Glance at the back pages of newspapers. Mayo where going to win it because they deserved it etc etc.

On the money well predicted

While part of me did wanted tyrone to win I am gutted for Lee Keegan. He is such a fantastic player. When the going gets tough he is always there to try and push his team on . I'd love for him to actually win.

Congrats Tyrone, the deserved champions in all fairness. They were superb in defense, did the necessary when called for in terms of denying goal chances. Brian Dooher is a born winner. Great to see the love still there for Peter Canavan - what a great player he was in truth. Mayo .... there are no words. Well, there is one but everyone says its a myth. Condolences to you all - your fans were terrific, every year they keep coming back in their droves in spite of all the agony. I hope I am around to see you end the long wait. Sad though I was at the time to bow out Dublin were very poor this year and I don't think Farrell is the man to lead this squad. I don't think Mayo were really as good as Dublin made them appear. Its great that there are new champions ... the game needs different winners to stay fresh. Anyone, people of Tyrone, enjoy your week ... you deserve it.

Great win for Tyrone. Mayo are cursed. Many times penalties are missed over a stutter step. Make up your mind, stick with it and concentrate on where you age going to kick the ball. Act as if there is no goal keeper. If you kick it correctly the goalie has to guess correctly or make a brilliant save and that is outside your control. That is what a coach told me one time. Not making the goalie produce a save is a terrible bad taken penalty.

Most pundits predicted a very tight margin either way or a draw. Very few predicted that Tyrone would win as easily as they did. They controlled the game pretty much from start to finish.
