Think if it's a tight defensive game it will suit Monaghan better. If it's a bit more open Tyrone seem to have more different forwards in good form and will score more points because of this. Think the game against Kerry Tyrone were trying out a few different systems including a 1 on 1 back 6. That was grand in the 90s but no1 has won anything playing that way since the turn of the millennium. I'd be absolutely certain they wont set up like that against Monaghan or Kerry if they win at the weekend. Suppose if I was going to make a prediction I'd predict Tyrone by 2 or 3 against Monaghan and Kerry then by 3 or 4. But if its level going into the last 10 minutes Monaghan might edge it. I'd think Kerry would beat Monaghan by less than Tyrone though strange as that might sound as the game would be alot lower scoring. Hopefully Tyrone will win Sam this year but looking at the likely 3 games they have to win to do it I'd say it would be an unbelievable achievement!!!! If Tyrone were 2 or 3 down going into the last 15 minutes I'd be confident. Their bench is nearly stronger than their starters.

Agree Tyrones bench is 1 of the strongest in Ireland but for Monaghan to be level coming into the last 10 minutes they will have to be at the top of their game and Tyrone having a bit of an off day. And if that's the case the stronger bench wont maybe matter.

Why do you think neutrals have a strong favourite? as a Mayo man I hope for a great game with no injuries so the winner can go on and really put it up to Kerry If you think the other '30 counties will be up for Monaghan' then that's just your own bias coming through. nicko94 (Mayo) - Posts: 69 - 27/07/2021 12:38:16 2364658 Link 2 |
I'm hoping for a Tyrone win!

I have friends in Tyrone and I would usually support them after we are out but whoever wins we'll be supporting them against Kerry, this is the last decent tv coverage we'll get this year too from BBCNI as after this all we have to listen to is Marty Morrisey and RTE God help us. Strongly back us to get a result here in what will be a tight game. Our record at Croke Park is decent. OGarmaile (Tyrone) - Posts: 248 - 28/07/2021 11:24:10 2365011 Link 1 |
Looking at it coldly, Tyrone have probably 2 too many options in attack for Monaghan's man markers, and at least one spare defender to cover Monagahans pacy but lightweight attackers. Hard to see anything other than a 6 to 8 point margin for Tyrone I'm afraid!

The post didnt say that. It was referring to our game against Fermanagh (this year in the UC) and our game against Tyrone (this year in the league). Plus, I didnt post it....so....you know..... read it again. Gator (Monaghan) - Posts: 238 - 29/07/2021 13:24:51 2365479 Link 0 |

Jesus Eddie the closer it gets to Saturday the more I'm thinking 50/50. Hopefully a good game of football to come and the winner gives Kerry all they want and more.

I think Monaghan will give ye your fill of it on Saturday, if it's neck and neck at mid way through the 2nd half you'd think Tyrone's bench would make the difference. Going to be a hard earned win I think for whoever comes out on top. Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 3173 - 29/07/2021 22:44:07 2365643 Link 0 |
Nervs starting to kick in. I have gone from being very confident to now thinking we will just pip it. But no matter what happens its bloody super to be back in a ulster final and against a super Tyrone team that we really are due a win against. I really hope we do it especially for banty and the players who a lot of people wrote off as soon as he got the job. farneygael (Monaghan) - Posts: 300 - 30/07/2021 02:40:30 2365657 Link 0 |
Pity the winners weren't taking on Connaught in the semi final, then anything can happen in a final.

The great thing about Sunday is we know tlwhat to expect. Mc kenna and mc shane off bench etc. Donegeal weren't ready for it. When Tyrone make subs we will know exactly what to do. monaghanmad (Monaghan) - Posts: 409 - 30/07/2021 11:45:17 2365728 Link 0 |
This is a really difficult game to call, any result from a tight low scorer, to a hammering from either team wouldn't be all that surprising. I myself think it might be quite low scoring. I don't like Croke Park when it isn't full. I would have thought even a smaller number in Armagh or Clones would have created a better atmosphere. The echoes in croke park can kill a game. 97Cavans (Cavan) - Posts: 405 - 30/07/2021 11:58:28 2365739 Link 0 |
Both teams would want to improve a hell of a lot in order to compete with Mayo.

Dont think either would fear Mayo although you are consistently there or thereabouts the last good while. No league form to go on either as you didnt play either in the league.......
