Replying To SaffronDon:  "Anyone see what the penalty was given for? Looked harmless enough after a couple of angles"
Hard to see but still Waterford are 8 points up at water break and that's only deserved. Tipp subs are funny taking off younger players with legs and leaving on the older players.

Yeah, Waterford definitely the better team here so far. They've an extra yard in everything here

No obvious reason for the penalty.
Looked like a bad decision.
Surely umpires should be used more to help inform these vital calls. Players deserve better.

No more or less obvious that the Tipperary penalty against Clare. In this incident if the referee seen an infringement it was well within the penalty area and not out at the sideline. Waterford by far the better team today.

Better team won, congrats to Waterford. Happy Tipp came back strong to narrow it to 2 points in extra time, no complaints. Its the same core group of players for the last decade, and they've given us more success than we've seen since the sixties.

I'd be happy to see Waterford go all the way, but having the AI semi next week is a tall order, it'll be the 4th week in a row they've played a huge match. Its tiresome seeing the GAA put professional demands on amateur players. Hopefully they'll be more battle hardened than fatigued.

The better team won and congrats to Waterford there season has been topsy-turvey but great tenacity. Tipp will rue a lot of wides, but they always entertain, the penalty call was never a penalty, but had no real bearing on a game well deserved win for Waterford.

That's neither here nor there. Two wrongs don't make a right. You say " if the referee seen an infringement ". It should be relatively easy to see what the reason for a penalty is. Nobody on the panel can tell what the penalty was awarded for after several replays.
Nobody's suggesting Waterford didn't deserve their win either.

Hard to see where the penalty was. Nearly but not quiet as hard as the goal they got they got last time against us. The difference is we were beaten by a point and they were beaten by 7 today.

This has been great Tipp team and they gave it all.The payers are there to revamp. We are the ones usually getting pipped in these situations. Y'ere subs were great but ours were better on the score board. Kiely going to be some player.

Not saying two wrongs make a right more like what goes round comes round which is largely how life in general revolves. But this whole new penalty and sin binning has not been fully thought out and this is lethal if a referee has a desire to make a name for himself.

I saw the Tipp goalkeeper twice pulling on the Waterford players body with his hurl...definitely a free and once its conceded inside the square a penalty.

Again, what wrongs were done in the past should have no bearing on a decision today.
It wasn't the difference today but the referee didn't know that at the time. There are a couple of umpires there and he never went near them to consult.
Tipperary's shot choice was poor and they have no one but themselves to blame for the amount of wides but those kind of decisions any day are wrong.
As I said Waterford deserve their win.

The stick of the goalie might have been up high on Gleeson. I don't know for sure and if so, it was minimal. There definitely was no one between the goal and Austin. Funny one called again him that never went in and one for him today. Against the same team. Karma. Clare were by far the most effected by a call as that score was the difference. Today Waterford would have won without it. We can speculate what might have happened but that is the reality. I think all will agree the best team won.

Looking at Sheedy on the line and his 'passionate behaviour' I must say if Davy Fitzgerald behaved in the exact same manner the narrative would be alot different, Tipp's score of 2-27 was the biggest ever by a losing team in a 70 mins intercounty game.

Maybe so, but have you ever seen Sheedy run onto a pitch and tangle with an opposition player?
