A bit of an anomaly in Div 2, and harsh on Westmeath and Down is that the 2 teams relegated from Div 1 last year ended up in their group due to Geographical reasons, Wedtmeath have performed well in both games but now face a relegation battle, They look good enough to come through that but you never know in a one off game

Yeah it's 50/50. They have improved though. No doubt about that. And deserve to remain in div 2.

The game v Down was never in doubt. Some excellent performances , hickey Morris O'Sullivan mcentee and keoghan just to name a few who had a good game. Down just didn't have the belief. We now through to seminal, status confimed that at worst it's div 2 next. But after Mayo game it's a one shot to return to where this team needs to be. Division one brought them on leaps and bounds as can be seen this year. Need to get back there. And more importantly stay there. Honestly in two minds regarding next weeks game, do we field best team and subs to keep momentum going ? Or do we make wholesale changes, protecting lads for the following week and let the reserves push for inclusion. At this stage I can't answer that one.

Disappointing result and performance from us today, we looked better team in 1st qtr but stalled after that, Clare deserved their win, A win against Laois could still put us through to playoff, but we need to improve to trouble Meath or Mayo,

Big win for Clare. Though it is not a major shock as Clare are now an established Division 2 side. That said be great to beat them in Ennis next week to give us a chance of getting to Division 1. Not sure we are good enough for Division 1 ...lack forwards. But we will see over next few weeks where we stand. Two/three big weeks for us coming up.

I think we are good enough for Div 1 albeit the lower end naturally. If we could even spend a season there it would show us how much of a step up is needed to compete at the top consistently. One step at a time. A tad worried about the Clare game. Collins has them motoring along nicely.

More like a lack of a decent manager.

Fair enough. Get a new manager. We still don't have forwards that cut it. We have no one of the class of Quinlivan or Sweeney of Tipp and they are in Division 3.

Surprised everyone has tipped Cork. Clare at 11/4 looks serious value to me.

If these results happen the south section has Kildare, Cork and Clare on 4pts each. Does anyone know if this goes down to overall scoring difference or scoring difference between the 3 tied teams?

It comes down to scoring difference.

I think people naturally go with Cork, but I agree with you. Clare, even more so in Ennis are a strong side and will be favourites in my book. They have a couple of forwards that are more potent than Cork's and they all know what they are doing tactically. I don't think Cork have any balance yet. I feel the attack is too slow and laboured, which against an organised Clare defence will struggle.

Not in this but if I was doing a wager id go:

Mayo v Meath.................Mayo
Westmeath v Down........Westmeath
Laois v Kildare.................Kildare
Clare v Cork.....................Clare

Would need team news for the Mayo v Meath game though as it's likely several first teamers could be rested.

Interesting permutations so. To ensure a place in the promotion playoff:

Kildare need to win by 7 or more
Cork need to win by 4 or more
Clare need to win, Draw or lose by 2 or less

If Kildare win by 6 and Cork win by 3 no idea what happens. Everyone would be tied; Cork and Clare would even have the same for and against.
