No I know you are talking BS. When Cork and Down broke the rules cases on the Republic had skyrocketed. Over 6k people a day were being diagnosed. Our deaths were at their highest. It was well known too that the UK variant was in the country at Christmas so Ireland was in massive trouble.

Just listening to the news on the radio, there is no need for this constant barrage of figures on hospital stats which are a fraction of what they were 3 months ago. Seems like fear mongering. Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 2484 - 06/04/2021 12:14:49 2336108 Link 3 |
Your very selective in what figures you believe and the figures you don't. Things on here too Irish for you going by your past comments. You stick with your UK.

This is a GAA forum. If you boys want to argue about COVID go somewhere else. I've seen and read enough of that to last me a lifetime. Greengrass (Louth) - Posts: 5995 - 06/04/2021 12:26:37 2336110 Link 3 |
Well this particular thread does relate to a GAA team breaking Covid-19 lockdown rules.

Aye sure start a thread about an up coming match then....

Fair point AfricanGael so why not stick to the point of the thread as opposed to endlessly recycling pro and anti Covid positions. This isn't the place for that. Have you sorted out my education in relation to the "Great Wars" yet?

Wouldn't I love to Saffron. Wouldn't we all?

Too right! Hopefully soon enough

I did, but unfortunately for some reason it didn't pass moderation.

Will Dublin get a bigger punishment than Down or Cork due to the fact that they knew what had happened to those two teams in December or January and decided to go ahead and break the rules anyway.

I was thinking the same, do the GAA think now that they need a tougher punishment as the current punishment doesn't seem to deter teams from training.. I will add, I don't have any problem with the Dublin lads training last week.. tommy132 (Mayo) - Posts: 589 - 06/04/2021 15:35:56 2336127 Link 2 |
No problem with cheating, no ?
AfricanGael (UK) - Posts: 1947 - 06/04/2021 15:49:38 2336129 Link 3 |
The Dubs should not have cheated. And deserve the ban. That said outdoor transmission accounts for less than 1% of cases. So keep things in perspective. galwayford (Galway) - Posts: 2453 - 06/04/2021 16:05:25 2336132 Link 2 |
fair enough if you see it as cheating, I don't think it was cheating

Banning managers isnt the solution to the problem, same as the winter training ban, the manager will still have players training, while its not the players fault really as they have to follow orders, I think the manager and players involved need to be banned or a punishment that effects everyone involved. tommy132 (Mayo) - Posts: 589 - 06/04/2021 16:22:28 2336134 Link 1 |
Can you imagine if this cheating hadn't been exposed and we heard that all those Dublin lads who were illegally training had caught Covid, do you really think they would have put their hands up and said yes we were training and may have caught it that way ? Of course they wouldn't. We all know you are much more unlikely to catch Covid in an outdoor setting, nobody disputes that, but to use a figure of 1% is highly misleading for a number of reasons, firstly because you are talking about 1% of all cases (indoor and outdoor), secondly, if groups were outdoors taking part in an activity they shouldn't have been then they wouldn't admit it and finally it categorises all outdoor sports in the same bracket when we know that certain sports carry more risk than others. It's cheating by fact, not by my opinion.
