Yeah , it really beggars belief how desperate some of these journalists are to get any type of a story. You're right, I know, once you are at the top , there's only one way they can take you and they're only too glad to do it. I think we'll just have to train in Croke Park now too. That'll fix them. Although, there's probably those that think we do that already. Dubh_linn (Dublin) - Posts: 2313 - 03/04/2021 14:54:56 2335876 Link 1 |
Brilliant. I couldn't agree more with you.

This is where journalism goes in the septic tank and you have to walk around it knowing exactly what it is. Canuck (Waterford) - Posts: 3035 - 03/04/2021 15:14:22 2335878 Link 2 |
I think you need to relax. Far more serious incidents going on that is being swept under the carpet and nothing to do with the GAA. Guys jumping the Q with help of HSE and older people dying due to same, holding up vaccine for 10 days-very little reports from some of these journalists and no photographs either!

I'm more interested in the 7am training session. Posters on here have claimed the Dublin team have operated on a semi professional basis or maybe even close to professional basis for a number of years with early morning, evening and training camps. sam1884 (UK) - Posts: 999 - 03/04/2021 16:42:51 2335883 Link 2 |
Why would an amateur team find it difficult to train early morning before work? I'm struggling to understand your point.

First the guys in question live pretty much near where this session took place, Dublin has a lot of people but its only a little bigger than say Louth. Dublin teams have been doing early more gym/training for well over a decade now and that would include juvenile teams as well. But remember too when I go out to Abbottstown weekdays and evenings before lockdown plenty of Country Inter-county teams out there so I don't believe this is anything new at a all. And I would be totally amazed if Dublin where only ones haing early morning sessions. If your county is not then i suspect there in lies the problem.

I agree look at the Indo this morning! Thousands upon thousands of HSE backroom staff all vaccinated a massive cohort working at home, these are admin/finance staff litterly thousands all ahead of cancer patients, vulnearable people - absolutely shocking. But yet screw the Dubs!!!

There will be significant egg in the face over this shortly. I don't believe for a second that Dessie Farrell told anyone go out and train in a group. If that is the case then it is a case of taking discipline action against someone who knows nothing about an incident. He is right to stay quiet and let the kangaroo courts go ahead. I guess it comes down to geography and what type of jobs the majority of amateur players have. If there is a commute to work or if most of the team are due to start at the traditional 9am then training, with everything that goes with that, and then travelling, working and maybe meeting up again for an evening session appears on the face of it to be very challenging. In my opinion it would be very difficult for a purely amateur team to have that sort of schedule. Individual weights etc or gym yes but a planned structured training session - I find it hard to see many teams being able to have those.

Eh sorry to burst your bubble but Ger Loughnane was at that with the Clare hurlers 27 years ago.

Indeed, I remember the great Gerry McEntee used to train by himself at 5am before his shift as a surgeon.

Well it would nt be actualy be possible for alot of counties to be fair as alot of their players would be living and working in other counties. For example a few of the Mayo team were working in Dublin.

Fair enough if that was the case; I would still question how it's possible for a 100% amateur set up be it 27 years ago or today.
