Monaghan And Cavan Amalgamation

Replying To Ulsterman:  "This is just deflective nonsense dressed up as serious conversation to take the spotlight away from the Dublin situation. Sadly we are going to get more of this guff from Dublin pundits, the media and I would guess elements within Croke Park. They will under no circumstances address the root cause of the problem. The Leinster Championship, particularly the final and the Dublin/Cavan game were mind numbingly boring turn offs and do nothing for football. We are going to get an avalanche of this "You should all try harder, aren't the Dubs to be admired, one day you could be like them......why don't you wee counties think of amalgamating to challenge them". It is insulting horse ***** of the highest order."
Have to agree. He is deliberately throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
It shouldnt be tolerated truth be told, nor should the 'same as kerry and kilkenny' argument have been tolerated when it is obvious they it isnt the same.
I think many of the pundits are afraid of being cancelled if they speak against dublin. They need to appeal to the masses, and dublin are the masses.

The solution is fairly clear to be honest.
1 split Dublin, with maybe a few voluntary amalgamations offered to small counties.
2 put dublin in the railway cup

You left out Leitrim there of course a game that Mayo won by 11 points. So Mayo have win 50% of their games in the championship by 11 points or more. This just further serves to emphasise the gap between the too 2-3 teams and the rest. I think both Mayo and Kerry would romp Leinster just as Dublin have.

Kildare knocked out Mayo 2 years ago

Upsets do happen, Cork beat Kerry and then lost to Tipp this year, and the lead up to that Kildare-Mayo game was a pantomime. I expect Kerry to resume normal service in Munster next year and if either they or Mayo were in Leinster I would expect them to rattle off a string of Delaney Cup wins, as Dublin have. There are 3 top teams at present IMO with Donegal not far behind and the rest are also rans with Galway and Monaghan having faded recently.

They did, but Mayo were missing their first-choice midfield pairing and were wrecked from coming through the qualifiers again. The Newbridge or Nowhere thing undoubtedly galvanized Kildare too.

I'd expect the current Mayo side to beat Kildare on most occasions, in the absence of injuries or suspensions.

People are making a lot out of the one sided nature of Mayo's win over Tipp this time, but honestly I'd view it as something of a freak result. Tipp ran us close in 2016 and 2018, and really, they shot themselves in the foot by giving away two goals you'd hardly see at junior level (who tries to foot pass the ball across their own square, especially against a pressing team?). Take those out and the margin is similar to the previous ties between the sides.

I haven't done the calculations on it, but I'd be very surprised if Mayo's average winning margin has been the 10, 13, 14 or 17 point average that the Dubs have been racking up since 2013. We've had a number of close scrapes through the qualifiers in the past five years and I reckon my receding follicles have less to do with genetics than following Mayo!
