Totally agree. I think this is an older generation thing. Surly any manager of a county now wouldn't care what part of the county you are in or even what league your team is in. farneygael (Monaghan) - Posts: 296 - 02/09/2024 20:19:59 2568113 Link 0 |
I suppose the senior division has typically been heavily dominated by mid and north teams over the last 15-20 years which has lead to more county players from that end of the county? It stands to reason that next year should see more lads from killanny, cremartin and corduff on the panel, they play at the top level in Monaghan and should be treated as such. On that note; any whispers about potential management? County training starts in anger in about 2 months! Jjoniel79 (Monaghan) - Posts: 174 - 02/09/2024 21:47:51 2568128 Link 0 |
Oram will give Toome a good game. As for intermediate i wouldn't be ruling Blayney out of it

Be suprised if either team played full strength this weekend.. both already qualified, so champo doesn't start proper for another few weeks.

So with Group 1 it is fairly straightforward who the Top 3 will be MuineachanAbu (Monaghan) - Posts: 660 - 03/09/2024 09:13:43 2568157 Link 0 |
Writing Blayney off then so?

I believe there are a handful of players floating around the county (both South & North) that could bring something to that panel, maybe they all don't start but I believe some could. If the rumours are true about the amount of training sessions held per week and lets face it, a team on the rebuild how appealing is it for players to dedicate their entire life to the cause for that part of the year?

Scotstown men all dont seem to have a problem with it, maybe filling the county team full of them is the way forward. We seen how a certain scotstown man who left the panel this year and who endured constant criticism for years was dearly missed this year. I had people who would downgraded him for years turn around and say what a miss he was. If only more men like him in south monaghan would show his dedication then they would get on the panel.

I'm assuming you seen both this year.? Judging by scores currin could be a dangerous dark horse also.?

Blayney should be written off bottom of the league all year and will be in relegation if they don't beat carrick which is highly unlikely. People need to forget about history been a long time since blaney where relevant in championship football

"Blayney will be in relegation if they don't beat carrick" do you realise it's not exactly as black and white as that , other results would have to go against them as well. Was at the carrick emyvale game, there's no reason why Blayney won't feel as if they can beat them at home because it was an underwhelming performance from carrick.

Blayney straight to semi final if they beat Carrick so you can look at it both ways. Id fancy second and third in this group to beat the equivalent in Mcloones group. Magheracloone are massive favourites topman500 (Monaghan) - Posts: 294 - 04/09/2024 12:33:37 2568394 Link 0 |
People are very one dimensional in their thinking anything that has happened previously goes out the window now, championship is championship. In my eyes there are 2/3 teams that can't win the Intermediate championship, other than that any of the others COULD win with a bit of momentum, luck and all the others things you would need to win one. I guarantee you if you look back through this forum to this time last year Killanny and Cremartin weren't many peoples pick to be playing senior football in Monaghan in 2024. The Intermediate is Carricks to lose. But if anybody can, they can. Nobody thought Corduff would survive in Senior last year, but they did. Nobody thought Killanny or Cremartin would survive this year, but Killanny should. BrehonBlonde (Monaghan) - Posts: 81 - 04/09/2024 14:37:50 2568416 Link 0 |
If its a Magheracloone v Carrick final.... its Magheracloones Championship.!

I fancy Doohamlet as dark horses for Intermediate. One of Truagh, Magheracloone or Carrick should win it but you never know. Doohamlet have a nice run into quarters now with game against Clones then see what happens against Magheracloone in the last group game and then it could be Blayney or Emyvale in the quarters, Truagh or Carrick in the semi, Magheracloone again in the final. Bit of momentum goes a long way once you get to the latter stages. If the last few years has shown anything its that tight, close knit groups, that are hard to beat (Killanny, Corduff, Cremartin, Aughnamullen) go a long way. Yup.. seem both, but James Wilson back for Toome will carry them over the line. Think Drumhowan the only danger to them but on our day we could suprise.

Suprise yourselves or the opposition?
