Sour Grapes and lack of humility come to mind. Talk about ungracious in defeat.....

Replying To PoolSturgeon:  "It's easy to say now that Davy would have been a better appointment but absolutely no guarantee that would have been the case. In fact the likelihood is we would be in no better position in a post-Davy era than we are/will be in a post-Shefflin era. You must be forgetting the antagonism there was among supporters within the county when Davy looked like he might get the job. The best that could be said is that there was a feeling of despair that he might get the job , and much relief when it transpired that Shefflin got it instead. A manager who is on a sticky wicket with supporters from Day One of his appointment will almost always fail unless they bring immediate success and even Davy in this era of Limerick dominance would not have been winning trophies with us."
Shefflin gave Senior minutes to more lads than Davy would have.

I lost my bet sadly (small stakes) but I had to hope that we would come with a response against a good but not world beaters in Dublin. Burkes red was it for us, it was uphill all the way after that with the stupid gale in that kip Salthill.
Its the end of the road now for a fair few lads and for Shefflin too who is out of his depth and should go. Time to clear out the auld boys in the county board running Galway hurling into the ground but that's up to the clubs to bring about a generational change.

Your minors are looking great and will probably bring another Irish Press Cup across the Shannon. And who knows with the big-ballers, they seem to be clicking into gear and motoring well? Perhaps, he'll have a day out in Croker yet this year!

Keep the heads up! These things go on cycles!"
My god youngeen it seems you were not so bad all along! Truth is Galway were bad all year and were just terrible today. Dublin to me are a pretty average team but were made to look good by Galway loose marking, zero workrate, speed, link-up play etc. and I don't know how one can win a game with hardly any forwards playing in the forwards (strange concept I know for Henry and his backroom team to comprehend)! Henry seems like a nice man with good intentions but a blind man could have seen the team needed an injection of youth, speed, physicality etc. instead of relying on many of the same players on the go for 10 - 15 years at this stage and many of those were not exactly blessed with pace either! Some people say that the players are not there but I don't believe that. A Galway club team won the AI this year and it takes a very good team to even come out of Galway so that doesn't make sense. The lack of success at U20 is a factor it seems and the minor winning players are not being progressed to good U20's or seniors for whatever reason.

While there was a feel good factor in the air after HS was appointed in reality him getting the job only papered over the cracks, the county board never really explained the reasons Michael Donoghue left the position in the first place and turning down the vacancy HS filled. From what I understand it was the lack of support given to him going back to the 2018 AI final that left him feeling perplexed.
We will never know how it would have worked out had DF been given the gig but I doubt it could have been any worse than what we have this evening.

Terrible frustration watching Galway, 0-19 v 2-11 at half time when in reality it should have been 1-22 v 0-08 Game over.
Galway missed a goal chance and 3 bad wides. There goals were poxy and should have been delt with

Galway were awful today, the ref was even worse. Burke should never have been sent off, yellow card yes but never a red. Flynn was manhandled in the square for a definite penalty. Having said all that the ref done us a favor as this Galway team would be hammered in the next round. I see this Galway group a little like Man United, we can get rid of the manager every second year, believe we are contenders and that we could win an AI, just like United think they are PL contenders but in reality like United the sooner they/we realize that a rebuild over a couple of years is needed the better. This squad has given a lot to Galway hurling, deserved their medals in 2017 but the game has moved on and there are a lot of tired legs in that panel.
I think Shefflin is a decent manager if he had the raw material, I believe he could produce, but a total build from scratch might not be to his strengths. I don't see too many people jumping for the Galway job, and the ones that had it have a lot of the players that were blooded years ago by Anthony Cunningham. There is a serious problem with Galway hurling when we have to bring back a 31 year old Johnny Glynn from New York! Where are the minors, U-20? have they taken up rugby, soccer, or just not willing to put in the effort of a semi-professional sports player? The supply chain needs to be fixed, the expectations pulled back and time-frame put in place with tolerance to make us competitive again.

As a county we are in serious trouble. The numbers playing hurling continues to decline in traditional hurling strongholds due to population decline and the areas of population increase particularly Galway City are being ignored/lip service as regards increasing participation and its appeal as a game.

You might care to follow your own advice and be gracious in victory. It was nip and tuck at 15 a side.

Not a great challenge by Burke but a harsh red. Blatant pull down on Flynn that should have been a penalty and not given. Dissent punished by something nearer to 30m when it looked like overcarrying by the Dublin player.

Not saying we'd have won today [and if we had, we're not good enough to win a Leinster final] but Dublin got some decisions today they wouldn't get another day.

One other item, Pearse Stadium needs to be sold and a real stadium build in its place. Galway for a dual playing county of its size and population needs a top class stadium, not hurricane alley that is pearse stadium. My God the money that was spent to refurbish would have bought Carnmore airport or a site in Athenry to build something the GAA could be proud of.

All this talk of different managers is only window dressing. Whoever was at the helm, Henry, Davy or anyone else would have had the same issues to deal with.
From 4 All-Ireland minor winning teams in 5 years, I believe only 2 players are on the current panel. That's an appalling statistic and a massive red flag for what's being done to develop players in the county.
I don't doubt development coaches are working hard but it's fairly obvious that whatever is being done has not been working. That's where Galway hurling needs to start again. The waste of young talent has to be stemmed.

No guarantee the win only for red card..poxy goals you say, don't think so..Galway were awful today and havnt really played well all year..the warning signs were evident during league match against us,we played most of match with 14 but ye didn't get a win..I'm pretty sure that putting Glynn back into the panel didn't go down well with a lot in Galway..why did he bring him on today, down to 14 and playing into a gale??for years in limerick it was harder to lose a place on panel rather than get a chance..I'm thinking same is happening now to ye..Galway are needed in hurling but it doesn't look good at this time.if Henry leaves who takes on the job??we are lucky in limerick over the past 7 years,it won't last forever but kiely has given fellas a chance and it has worked..

''Should have" and "if", your most used words. Reality=it wasn't. Galway gone! Meanwhile, Kyle Hayes can continue to "flap panickedly" (whatever you meant by that anyway?) for at least two more games!

Get down to the cousin in Limerick and see how it should be done!

Did I say anything about Clare, am I not entitled to an opinion? Enjoy the summer holidays. Nice to get a long one

I knew we were in trouble.
I had high hopes this year with Eamon O'Shea involved and that added to another very good coach in Kevin Lally but to now be gone out of the championship in May is a real disaster.
Agree with other posters and said it at the time that Davy Fitz would have been a safer bet with his wealth of experience but sadly we'll never know no.
And yes PLEASE sell Pearse Stadium and move to somewhere like the airport.
