Hollymount-Carramore have been unsuccessful in their appeal to Connacht GAA over effectively being eliminated from the Mayo intermediate football championship by a contentions two-pointer.
In the round-robin clash between Hollymount-Carramore and Kilmaine two weeks ago, Kilmaine full-forward Kevin Mullin sent over a point in the run up to half-time which was struck from well within the arc.
The score was mistakenly recorded as a two-pointer and the game would go on to finish level (1-15 to 0-18), which was enough to secure Kilmaine’s place in the quarter-final on score difference and eliminate Hollymount-Carramore in the process.
A meeting of Mayo GAA’s Competition Controls Committee in recent days dismissed Hollymount-Carramore’s objection to the result of the game.
Midwest Radio reports that Connacht GAA informed the club last night that it had lost its appeal and it now remains to be seen whether or not a further appeal will be made to the DRA.
As it stands, Kilmaine are set to play Kilmeena in the Mayo IFC quarter-finals this Saturday at 3pm.
