Why is the Tailteann a folly? Would you scrap the intermediate club championships? Second tier teams need something to aim for. The inter County season does need a restructure, but the Tailteann is one decent innovation.

Second Tier teams can be competitive in the national leagues. Just don't play the League in the depths of winter, play it in late spring/ early summer. Heck even play it alongside championship ie Championship every 3 weeks, with a league the week after championship. You could run the leagues until July. Imagine a sunny July evening, and the league finals taking place in Croke park. Tailteann Cup is too lopsided. Teams like ourselves last year are just too strong for the likes of Waterford and Carlow. Who will win the tailteann this year, probably Kildare or Down.
The all Ireland should go to an open draw, forget what the Ulster counties think, majority rules.
All Ireland championship should be a five round competition

Play it every 3 weeks through the summer.
The week after Championship players should be available for their club, then back in for 2 weeks with the county side.
Playing Gaelic football in January, February and even March is madness. You will get more bums on seats in milder weather, and in you are not competing directly with premier league soccer on the telly, or international, and provincial rugby. How Club and county cant be run together with everything finished by the end of October baffles me. Then the season would be truly over and club lads and county lads could pursue other interests, and encouraged to travel, Yhe fact that county players are nearly training 12 months of the year is a sin in my opinion.

Worst performance from a Meath team I've ever seen. Can we just withdraw the men's senior intercounty team from the championship? Zero belief. Their participation does more harm than good to football in the county. The hundreds of thousands of euros injected into that team in recent years should be put into coaching.

Overcoached i suspect ! Not let play …also a bit small for county standard in general ..taking shots that were not on .. but mad to say could still end ip in quarter finals … its not really a championship and too much t v fodder

It's just a poor team really . Not enough good players in the county at present. Can't think of anyone available who is not in the panel . This was always going to be a Kerry training session at best . No bite in the game and I don't think even a yellow card issued which indicates a lack of passion . But I presume we can always blame the county board ! It's the usual fall back position ! Ulster championship match armage v Derry on now and 3 yellows issued in first 10 mins ! Spot the difference! The lads are doing their best but posters will soon be twittering " hard luck lads " … is dishonest and condescending .. they are just brutal at the moment

I tend to agree with over-coaching very little off the cuff stuff today, I was close enough to hear the lads trying to direct lads into position. Players afraid to take the opposition on is a huge issue with this team. I think regardless of players or talent, we have very much regressed and I would be a huge advocate for Colm coming in a few years ago, but how long are we truly going to let him say the team is inexperienced? Shouldn't a youthful team be full of exuberance? Fitness and energy? I just don't see it. Kerry didn't even try today just cantered through the game. We let Kerry have their own kickout we may aswell have just conceded before the game. Management team playing damage limitations and not having a go is unforgivable.

Accept poor coaching, expect poor results.

Jaysis lads but we are in bad way.

I dont mind losing to anyone, but its the manner of the defeats. When was the last time a Meath team put up a good score in a match? I mean yes we put big scores on Waterford/Wexford etc last year, but against division one and two opposition? In this years league: 1-11 against Louth, 0-11 against Cavan, just for example. In this year's championship: 0-13 against Dublin, 0-10 against Louth and 0-9 today. And those are just examples in my head. No goals, No threats up front, no real definitive idea of what our best 15 or best panel is. Tactics which will not deliver with an average panel like we have, and frankly a team low on motivation and confidence. I appreciate that the game at large isnt in a good way, but Ive never seen such little interest or enthusiasm in Meath. Its as if people dont care anymore. People are almost embarrassed at this point to bring it up. The players haven't the bite, the boll*ck, and the soul of the players we all once watched.

This team bounced back from the abyss to win a trophy last year and I rate that as an acheivement, but we have flatlined majorly since. I dont honestly think the current setup can go any further. I'd go as far as to say the O'Dowd/MacEntee/O'Rourke period/era needs to be put to bed once and for all in the relatively short term and we need to become more visionary and radical in our approach. Tear up the book and start again. Get in people from outside the county because there is nothing inside it of value that can deliver on the raw materials available in the county. We need a serious, rigorous and honest external audit and we need once and for all to open up to the modern game by any means.

In my opinion, if the grá isnt there and there arent people in the right positions with the stomach and ability to make these decisions... we are gone. Simple as that. It will be an ice age before Meath men's teams win anything other than another Tailteann Cup.

Less said about that match the better. The only positive I'm taking from this weekend is the performance of the Offaly under-20 hurlers. Seeing what they have done to pull themselves out of some dark times and give their long suffering supporters something to get excited about has given me some hope - however misplaced - that Meath could do the same with some hard work at development level.

As bad as the coaching is I think we have to start talking about how little skill is in this team people go on about being as good as Louth and others but we only have Keoghan who is a truly great player the rest of them just aren't near the elite players of Dublin , Kerry , Galway etc we badly need to improve the underage players make them lads that can not only run around but to be skillful on the ball to break any decent team down

Miles off it again, just absolutely clueless what to do with the ball when we get into good positions. The aimless shooting was just depressing to watch.

Kerry fan turned to me at one point and asked why Jack O'Connor wasn't playing, they were impressed with him when he came on. But I think it's telling, 2 years in and Colm still doesn't know his best team.

Kerry didn't even play well today either, but got out missed chances we would have been well in touch - but when they went up a gear we were steam rolled again.

I hope the county board officials who drove the last manager out of the job are happy with where we are at now. Yes, we weren't setting the world alight but we weren't getting drubbing and drubbing. And we were getting 100% effort out of the players at our disposal at the time. That is not the case now.

We play conor gray and give them the short kickout all day? That's one of the biggest things to take from today?

Credit to Kilmainhamwood man Paul Shankey doing an excellent job with Waterford backing up the win earlier in the championship against Tipperary with another brilliant win against Longford. Good to see a Meath man and former player excelling in county management.

If we take any positives from todays match I look at the younger leaders caufield never stopped the fight, frayne kicked a lovely a long range score and kept going to the very end, finally shoutout to young o halloran big task for a 19 year old to mark one of the best in Ireland and do a good job the only point paudie scored was when he wasn't actually on him. Small wins out of a poor showing
