I actually think we can make a game of it tomorrow, of course the dubs will be hot favourites however if we cant get riled up for a battle tomorrow and make the dubs uncomfortable I will be disappointed.

Stay in the game for the first 20 minutes, get to half time with a kick of a ball in it and have a right go in the second half.

The Dubs have been surprisingly average in most of their second half displays all year, and against Clare they needed a minor miracle at the end.

Limerick outscored them in the second half when they decided to have a go and run at them. Cork the same. Derry decided to play in the last 20 minutes and overturned them also.

The dubs bench is only average now, a lot of mileage on legs coming on.

Meath +5 points on the handicap might not be a bad bet tomorrow.

Walsh a loss for tomorrow, Harnan named centre back and COS dropped to subs, hopefully an impact from bench. Need a big shift from everyone.

I don't want to be overly harsh and I've generally great admiration for any Meath man who puts on a Meath jersey but that Meath team just named wouldn't even be a top 5 senior club team in Dublin.

I have a spare ticket for tomorrow if anyone is stuck. Its genuine and its face value. Let me know if anyone here needs it.

Best of luck Colm Donal and the lads today. We are going to need it unfortunately.

This game has all the hallmarks of out ritual drubbing to the Dubs. The usual nonsense being spouted how if we all wear checked jersey's or Kepak jerseys and party like its 1999, we will win because we are Meath. Well those glory days are long gone.

I've been to most of not all the games since and we are on a hiding to nothing today. We just look clueless through the whole spine of the team right through to GK.

Any truth to the rumour a certain P O'R might be tempted back? That would be a huge lift to the squad. Traditionalists will love the 60yrd kickouts to be contested by two big brooding athletic strongmen in the middle doing a ballet dance of the ages.

Back to present anyways and we will need to mark the usual key Dubs who we've never actually managed to mark since 2010 so maybe today will be the day Meath figure out how to do it.

If we just stop them scoring we have a chance, it will be close because of the Cathedral like atmosphere of Pairc Tailteann but Dublin by 17 for me.

Hon the Royals.

The management let the team down. Playing against a wind and you don't protect your fullback line, keep the score down and give yourself a chance in the 2nd half. Really don't know what colm orourke is trying to prove but so far it's not working.

Some small positives!

Flynn and Jones did well enough
Aaron Lynch looked decent
Cathal Hickey was very good
Matt Costello also did well

I thought the full back line looked what it is a very inexperienced!!
Our starting half forward line struggled

Finally - Dublin looked okay but cannot see them winning the All ireland!

They never got out of second gear. That's what boils my piss. Shocking.

This unfortunately rang true. We are a div 3 team. The talent just isnt there in enough quantity.

Lots of talk recently about this team being young and patience being needed for the talent to come through. I really don't see it myself. There's not one young player or newcomer on the side that you can say 'yeah he's going to be good'. Just because a team is young and inexperienced does not necessarily mean they are going to improve. They are a bad team. And sure O Rourke needs time but I'm not sure there's anything he can do to rectify it.

As for the game, it is beyond depressing to see more or less the same game play out over and over for the past 12 years. Dublin always make Meath their bitch. They have gone back, and ourselves and Kildare have let them off the hook.

Ah well just have to remember it is early days into the recovery mission for Meath football. Kickouts some improvement . Midfield some slight improvement. At best i judge we have about 7 players at intercounty standard at present We can only work with what we have got Still most disappointing is the apparent lack of basic skills amongst too many players. Standards at club matches confirm that for last few years. Find it difficult to be optimistic even at this early stage. Cannot understand how basics and shortcomings are not dealt with at training sessions.. I suggest training sessions should be seriousely evaluated in their format. It seems too many basic errors being repeated .If it was a commercial business i would be looking at what value for money here. Simply outclassed to day, but that was against a very good team still. Sure is going to be a long haul back

Replying to my own message and I very have limited experience in management however I would seriously question the tactics today against Dublin.

To go toe to toe today was suicide and resulted in a no contest in the end.

Our full back line were left totally exposed and lets be honest the young lads deserved better.

I will never criticise any Meath man who wears the jersey and try's his best however we are trying to turn men into county standard who simply aren't and persevering with others who aren't either.

Our 3,4,11,12,13 & 15 are County Junior level at best, I am sick looking at JM the last number of years in a Meath jersey, he is not at the races with decision making, finishing or tracking back.

I am bewildered here to be honest.
