He's definitely injured.

First time in a while I am completely confident of a win, we improving while Clare are struggling.

Expect a 4+ win

Best wishes to Colm and the lads today. I've that funny feeling we are going to be brought back to earth after last week. Clare by 4 unfortunately. We are too open at the back and Clare are a far far superior team than Cork.

Nice fresh day in Navan, bit of over night frost on the ground.

Best wishes to all involved. Tricky game to call, can't see more than 1 or 2 points in it and could go either way. As I said, continuous improvements is all I'm looking for. A win would be a great result, but a lose isn't a disaster either. Clare are a well oiled machine in year 9 I believe under Colm Collins, and beat ourselves and Roscommon well last summer. This will be a big test

Well that was an underwhelming performance. A win is a win, but it's a bit worrying (a) how many scoreable frees we're giving away (b) how bad our kickouts are (c) how weak our midfield is (d) how we're struggling to get points.

We were 9 points up twice, and twice we let Clare back into it.
I was shocked to see how indecisive Harry was for our kickouts. He took an eternity to kick some of them because Clare pushed right up on us. Jones and McGowan are disappointing midfielders. McGowan is not even a midfielder.

I agree 100% ..we definitely got away with one there.
3 goals in the first half Clare will be very disappointed about. 4th goal was well worked . In saying all that it's Great to win while not playing well.

Actually agree 95% . I thought Jones had a decent enough game. The jury is out big time on McGowan IMO. Kicked a great score which he is more than capable of doing but that won't be sufficient to be an inter county midfielder.

I seen Dunboyne play in the club championship last year and he contributed very little so I assumed he was carrying an injury. I didn't follow up on it so don't know anymore. If he's not injured then it's probably time to move on to someone else. Might be an impact sub for the last 15 minutes.

This is a learning curve for all involved, but not that long ago we would have lost a gane like that, we have beaten a decent team today, yes there is plenty of work to do and fine tuning needed but we are 2/2 which i dont think many here thought we would be so a little perspective is no harm, we have lots of young players bedding into a new career and so far I'm very pleased and games like today will oy serve to improve the squad in my view, when you consider we had no Costelloe and lost Walsh early doors, two of our undoubted stars, I think this is very good result.

Kicks outs very disappointing 8 points as well is a very poor return and conceding 16 isn't great either need to tighten up giving too many soft frees away

Anyone who thinks Jones didn't play pretty well and wasn't at least a 7.5 out of 10 today hasn't a clue about football. I've been very critical of him but today was one of his better days in a meath jersey without being absolutely fantastic.

Also it might be time to move on to someone else...... Move on to who exactly???

Agree, Clare are difficult opponents under Collins , I always felt this would be more of a challenge than cork, battled out a hard earned victory over Louth last week, so happy enough with a win today, and looking at other results , Derry very relieved to get that win against Louth so next up we travel to them, and a win here would leave us sitting pretty,Derry playing at home will be a huge test, cork hammered Kildare, didn't see that coming, and Dublin of course comfortable winners in limerick, , Kildare and Louth will look at Meath as a must win game for them going forward

As they say it's better to win playing bad than lose playing well.
That was as bad a performance from Meath as any over the years. To get a win out of it is fantastic. Positives? Jones played well, scully had moments as did Morris. Negatives cleaned out in midfield more so than by cork, kick outs have gotten worse than last year. Halfback line given too many scorable frees, forward line not the same without Costello, and walsh was a huge loss, So plenty to work on. However a win is a win. No one will remember how badly we played if we get promoted and that's all that counts. Kildare were hammered today by a cork team we beat last week. So anyone thinking they are ahead of us may have to think again, Dublin will walk this division and probably but up a cricket score against majority of teams. It's all about number 2 spot. And that is between ourselves and Derry. So obviously next game is huge. It won't be easy. But a win there and we are in fine shape. I'd settle for a draw.

Yes Agreed learning is the key word for now. I do believe it is about trying to measure improvement from game to game or so on our well known weaknesses ,On that score of improvements measure we had a fair bit of wheelspin even though we are going in the right direction. We have to also allow for Shane Walshs injury early on and Costello a non runner to day. It seens at this stage they may be used as outfield players where help is needed
The goalkeeper problem shows no improvement but he is not totally to blame . His kickouts are too predictable but he must be very frustrated with little options made availabe . We have to have fine 2 good fielders for midfield ...Jones maybe one and we have to find a reliable partner .Defence is improving especially Flood because of his workrate and looks promising. Yes at times to day patience is tested, but we are a work in progress and injuries to promising players makes measurement more difficult. I know some will say but we won 2 matches i would have settled for that. No not for me i just want to see us improving from game to game for now so a lot of work to be done in training sessions I do believe we will be better the next day, and i refuse to believe we cannot get a win if we have a fully fit panel. To day may be a positive lesson in a way and i think COR will grab the chance to use to day constructively.

Consistency has been Jones' problem, he was poor against Cork and very good today, the challenge for him is to back up a good performance now.
