Meath Vs Clare NFL Round 2

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

1. Harry Hogan
2. Adam O'Neill
3. Conor McGill
4. Michael Flood
5. Eoin Harkin
6. Donal Keoghan
7. Cathal hickey
8. Ronan Jones
9. Daithi McGowan
10. Cillian O'Sullivan
11. Jason Scully
12. Darragh Campion
13. Jordan Morris
14. Matthew Costello
15. Shane walsh

If jack flynn is available I'd start him ahead of Ronan Jones. If Conor McGill isn't available James O'Hare will probably start and flood will go to full back.

Th only change I'd make here if both McGill and Flynn are fit is I'd go with Flynn and Jones in midfield, McGowan to 11, Scully to 12 and Campion dropping back to the bench.
Overall that would likely be our strongest team at the minute based on form/experience I'd say, but with the likes of Flood and O Neill (both of them to be fair) doing better than I expected, and maybe a few more might up their game and add a bit of much needed competition

Fair play to Shane walsh and Mattew Costello on reaching the sigerson cup final.Cosstello scored 6 (5 frees) and Walsh scored 3(2 frees) in their win.Hopefully both are ready to go on sunday.

Good to see them playing well and encouraging that they both took frees. I heard Costello came off with an injury. Don't think it's that serious but with the Clare game in 4 days I'm not sure he'll be ready for it

Just heard that myself. This new system is too much on players. Needs to be looked at seriously

I agree about the new group stage in the championship. But this has nothing to do with the split season. Sigerson and League games always crossed over on eachother. Atleast the club is finished before the league starts now. They could definitely do with scrapping the O'Byrne cup or at the very least making it straight knockout

Yeah think so too. Too many games too quickly.

I say just scrap it, teams will organize challenge games anyway themselves. The only difference is that challenge games don't generate gate receipts as they aren't normally in proper stadiums so the powers that be will be reluctant to do this

The gate receipts go towards the injured players fund, I for one would like the o byrne Cup to stay as it gives valuable experience to new players, especially if making debuts playing in front of spectators press and more often this days TV cameras, they be none of that at challenge games, I know o rourke found the o byrne Cup useful.

It has its uses. I would prefer to start league in February. And finish all ire in August. Think that gives still enough time to run club sigerson etc and obc. It's really just tweaking the current situation

Yeah was thinking the same myself. Its good to see them score a few frees.Hopefully he will be alright, thought when he dropped deeper he did well on Sunday helped around the middle and the backline.

Heard the same about Costello today. O Rourke might give him the game off and try Moriarty at 14. Costello has been going since the league last year with very little break

I don't expect any other changes to the team unless someone is injured. Wouldn't rush McGill back, he's another one been on the road a long time. If he could get 20 minutes of the bench it would be great for him.

Start colleges before Christmas and finish in January. Play provincials in OBC format before league. Start league later and link to Championship.

A lot of the colleges have exams after Christmas when games are on anyway. Plenty of time to play a couple of rounds before exams prior to Christmas and after exams following Christmas. Besides many of the Sigerson players are masters students too who don't have exams.

Anyone know what's the story with Conor McGill? I've heard injury is not the reason that he's been left out for 2 weeks in a row. Maybe management are not happy with his conditioning.
