The Leinster Club championships have already gotten underway for Meath teams. Unfortunately, Dunderry were well beaten by the Louth senior champions in the Leinster Club JHC. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1374 - 30/10/2022 15:50:06 2445960 Link 17 |
Just to add, Skryne Ladies have made the Leinster Club IFC final and will play Longford Slashers in the final. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1374 - 30/10/2022 17:07:30 2445973 Link 16 |
Is louth senior club hurling stronger than Meath Intermediate club hurling? Seems so with that result yesterday. Was anyone at the game? PatrickTopping (Meath) - Posts: 119 - 30/10/2022 18:00:23 2445979 Link 0 |
Best of luck to them all Success in these competitions is a success for our whole county Pity the county board tried to stifle Ratoath chances Talk about shooting yourselves in the foot I've used the term small minded before and this is another example Awaywin (Meath) - Posts: 116 - 30/10/2022 18:31:41 2445985 Link 0 |

They'd generally be relatively competitive in the Leinster junior championship (usually Knockbridge or Feichins) without ever being serious contenders. Knockbridge beat Boardsmill a number of years back as well. But any team hoping to make an impact at senior level in Meath should be aiming to beat them.

Best of luck to all the Meath teams in Leinster. Expecting Dunshaughlin in particular to have a good run. AnFearBan1234 (Meath) - Posts: 110 - 01/11/2022 13:39:15 2446112 Link 1 |
Don't think the junior is as strong as it has been previously so not sure how far Castletown will go. Hopefully I'm wrong. Dunshaughlin are strong favourites for Leinster and they should be winning it. Ratoath vs Rhode is a really interesting one. Rhode are ageing but have so much Leinster experience. There's been no Meath club in a Leinster senior final since 2004. Ratoath are the best chance we've had in a long time because of the draw, their age profile and already having experience in Leinster in 2019. I'll give them the nod to win in Navan LeitrimRoyal99 (Meath) - Posts: 1527 - 03/11/2022 16:17:44 2446362 Link 9 |
You'd think that with the reduction of teams in Intermediate, the quality of the Junior championship should increase in the coming years. Rhode have bundles of experience in Leinster. They beat Simonstown in 2018, O'Mahonys in 2014 and Skryne in 2010 on their way to the Leinster final on each occasion. That experience will certainly be worth a few points to them. Hoping that we can come through as it would be excellent to make it to Croke Park for the semi final. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1374 - 04/11/2022 11:40:24 2446445 Link 15 |
Yeah have to agree, Junior is only getting stronger and will continue to do so over the next few years. Dunshaughlin probably Meath's best chance of doing well, but they've a really tough game against Ballyteague. I think these are the two strongest teams in Leinster and whoever wins this will go on and win Leinster. They're a good side, with Jimmy Hyland as their marquee forward. Hopefully Dunshauglin can do the business anyway and have a proper crack at the All Ireland. hyperache (Meath) - Posts: 254 - 04/11/2022 17:01:22 2446514 Link 1 |
The reduction of both senior and inter to 16 will help it. But getting rid of the second teams has dropped the standard a bit I would say

The huge gap between meath clubs winning and then playing first round in leinster is something that needs to be looked at if we are serious about our clubs doing well in it. A near one month gap in most cases , teams lose momentum. Its a huge disadvantage over a club with a two week gap. hurlit (Meath) - Posts: 425 - 05/11/2022 11:40:29 2446543 Link 1 |
Great second half performances by both teams by the looks of it. Cooley Kickhams for Dunshaughlin and Clonmore for Castletown next. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1374 - 05/11/2022 17:52:25 2446570 Link 15 |
Super results for Dunshaughlin and Castletown today. The matches played out similarly with both teams level at half time and then winning comfortably in the second half. Would like to see a price on the double for them both to win Leinster! Could be very good possibility! boeder (Meath) - Posts: 59 - 05/11/2022 18:18:52 2446575 Link 2 |

I am not sure where you are coming from with this. The 3 Meath clubs competing in the football had great wins this weekend. If anything there wasn't enough of a gap in previous years.

Great win against a tough and experienced Rhode team. The Downs next in Croke Park. Renewing acquaintances with Lar Wall. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1374 - 06/11/2022 16:13:12 2446639 Link 15 |

Summerhill deserve some acknowledgement in fairness. The stern test they gave Ratoath would have stood to Ratoath today. Now that they are finished in hurling I would expect Ratoath to get stronger with each round. Apart from losing Joey their duel players were not at their best in the Meath Championship. Got away with it because other clubs had their own problems. Ashrules (Dublin) - Posts: 553 - 06/11/2022 18:40:42 2446660 Link 0 |
