Fair play to Kildalkey, they can put out a 2nd team that is competitive at Intermediate. Not bad for a Village of 250 families. I think there 3rd team is uneaten as well. They must be doing something right. Not sure Rathmolyon will have it all there own way in the Intermediate semi-final. Kildalkey will have 15 players for this match. As for seniors, not sure that rest is a positive. Trim and Kildalkey have plenty of footballers. Momentum is key, especially if you carry no injuries. I wouldn't write any of the Senior semifinalists off. Its knockout time, a completely different animal. Stiofan (Meath) - Posts: 67 - 14/09/2022 11:43:19 2440627 Link 0 |
250 familes, fair going. And then you have the town of ballivor and surrounding areas dont forget.

I've personally heard of a numerous sources from that area that Kildalkey don't get much of the pull from the ballivor area in both adult or juvenile hurling. Seemingly ballivor village contribute very little to both hurling clubs (Killyon and Kildalkey) many don't seem to play hurling in the area outside of the Mckeon brothers there's not many others playing for kildalkey but correct me if I'am wrong

Think you are right about Kiltale and Trim final. However, both teams have interest in the football championship but can't see this scuppering any preparations. Feel Kiltale have the edge, toughing out a result in the last round may stand to them. countyman123 (Meath) - Posts: 34 - 14/09/2022 16:39:08 2440686 Link 0 |
Wouldnt you think ballivor would be a senior football club and not a bottem half Inter team, with 3 clubs involved.

Ballivor rook their eye off the ball big time with underage from early 2000s slipped way back, in the 90s they were consistenetly div1 and 2 in all underage, 2003 they were divison 1 in U21, but that was it after that. Strange alright one part of Ballivor parish, Coolronan would have had very little hurlers or hurling interest traditionally it produced only footballers, nearly like bubble of North or East Meath. thats begining to change a bit now. dickie10 (UK) - Posts: 790 - 14/09/2022 20:29:13 2440705 Link 0 |
Have we seen anybody impress this year that is worthy of a call up for the Seniors panal for next year? Or any notible absenses for next year? bountyboy22 (USA) - Posts: 38 - 15/09/2022 13:00:58 2440754 Link 0 |
Yes good few impressing, whether they would commit to the panel and the same old setup is another question.

Hopefully with new management and potentially a 'fresh start' at Christy Ring level, there would be sufficient commitment from players especially those who play for the top 4

does anyone from ballinabrackey play hurling at all or has ever had...its kinda cut off at the very bottom of meath and the only real club they could play for in hurling would be Killyon

Interesting to hear that they took there eyes off the ball. Always found it strange the dynamic between the three clubs in Ballivor, from talking to people in the area is that the majorty of Killyon hurlers Gannon,Keoghan,Raleigh etc are also Ballivor footballers where the same amount of crossover is not as evident with Kildlakey. Probably due to the different levels in hurling with kildlakey always challenging for Jubilees and Killyon in the B.

Two Conneeleys, two Healeys, Nicky Potterton, Evan Fitzgerald and Padraig Geoghegan, all Kildalkey residents as well as the two McKeon brothers and Brian O'Halloran from Ballivor but all Kildalkey Senior hurlers played for Ballivor footballers regularly over the past number of years. Last year Brian O'Halloran wasn't eligible while Paddy Connelly has recently been injured and unavailable to both teams. That is close to half the team. There are many others from Kildalkey who do not play senior hurling with Kildalkey who play football with Ballivor now and over the years. So it's unfair to say that the Kildalkey area is not contributing to the Ballivor football effort.

I've heard different kildalkey make up the majority in ballivor adult and juvenile. This year alone 7 starters for Ballivor 1st team were from kildalkey and 4 from killyon the rest was made up from Ballivor men

Niall smullen David murtagh Brian connelly Martin Healy Conor quigley James Murray Conor Fitzgerald Are a few young names that have been strong in the club campaigns loyalroyal23 (Meath) - Posts: 20 - 16/09/2022 13:36:08 2440892 Link 0 |
I was at two of Ballivor's game, one involving my one club and another determined our relegation faith. Of the kildlakey hurlers a number of them are Ballivor men (McKeons, O'Halloran). Anyway my point was not to point the finger just interested in the dynamic of the three club system as much of the killyon lads are from Ballivor as I understand it and would view kildlakey as a rival. We struggle with only one club to keep the peace

Agree on above, can throw in on top of that Adam Murphy and Brian Reilly from Kiltale. Trim have a young age profile, Gererd Duane been very good also.

You want evidence and not hearsay, Kildalkey players who played with Ballivor this year: 1.Brian Conneely, 2.David Conneely, 3.Patrick Conneely, 4.Martin Healy, 5.Mark Healy, 6.Paul Fagan, 7.Podge Geohegan, 8.Martin Browne, 9.Ciarán Browne, 10.Nicky Potterton, 11.Kevin McKeon 12,Brendan McKeon, 13.Brian OHalloran 14.Sam Sweeney 15.Sean Corrigan 16.Evan Fitzgerald 17.Conor Fitzgerald I could go on! Stiofan (Meath) - Posts: 67 - 16/09/2022 16:17:23 2440906 Link 0 |
My understanding of that is 2 of the names above did not play for Ballivor this year, 4 of the names are Ballivor men and one of the names I have never seen play for Kildlakey. Again this is not a blame game I am sure there is many killyon players that do not bother with the football I was just interested to hear about the dynamics of two senior hurling clubs nestled either side of a football club
