There's a panel in the programme but it's the panel as of March this year. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1374 - 25/09/2020 14:14:37 2294033 Link 15 |
The Minor Panel programme is a fantastic piece of work, especially the tribute piece on Liam Tolan by Ciaran Lenehan and the article on the significant people each cup for all 6 divisions are named after. Ratoath Royal, I will take your word that is a Meath Panel list is from March, but I doubt if there will be many changes. Nine players from the two teams in the Division 1 final, I think anyone who watched the Colmcilles semi final against Dunboyne on Meath GAA TV might wonder why there is not a few more (even though It has been know for clubs to have great success and have no county players on their panel, Gael Colmcille this year in senior) as these two Divisions 1 finalists have brushed everyone else aside in their groups so maybe it is not a surprise. As seen on Hogan Stand the Meath Minor management team have gone round the clubs and ran Minor training sessions and I am pretty sure if anyone caught their eye they would be giving them a trial. It should be a great Final on Sunday if both teams play to their potential. Meathball (Meath) - Posts: 140 - 25/09/2020 16:52:55 2294074 Link 0 |
Find it hard to see how a team in a division two final doesn't have one player on the county panel myself .

Gaeil Colmcille are in division 1, having bet Ashbourne twice last year at u16 and have none. Wouldn't say it's a disgrace, just because they have a good team doesn't mean there's any one particular standout performer.

It's not a big deal. Most County Minors never actually play Senior club never mind County. You find some of the best Senior club players and county players never play County Minor or Development . Development Squads and Minor teams can be all about the Big, Hard Running talent of today, but height levels off , and the Hard Running amd physicality levels of and then the star at Minor is no longer the star at Senior. So pay no heed to Minor squads is my advice . Ask Conor McManus from Monaghan for one

All good teams have some very good players (that is usually why a team is good) -similar in adult football. I have seldom seen a team at any level where the weakest footballer is as good as the best on a team.

The big one today, any late predictions? I reckon it will be tight until the second water break, where Cilles will pull away. Greengiant99 (Meath) - Posts: 15 - 27/09/2020 12:35:28 2294277 Link 0 |

What a win for Dunshaughlin. Conor Gray with a massive influence on that game. Be interested to see him at the county level. An absolutely huge young lad and he is fairly mobile and not bad at football either. Kinsella is an excellent footballer too. With Dunshaughlin in the relegation playoff, it wouldn't be a disaster for Dunshaughlin to be inter and to build with this minor team along with Costello, Mitchell and a few other 98's as well. They certainly needed an influx of young players and I think this could be it if they stick at it LeitrimRoyal99 (Meath) - Posts: 1527 - 27/09/2020 14:18:47 2294292 Link 9 |
Well if thats as good as minor team you have seen and they cant even win the minor championship, (bet easily by 7 points as well) what does that make Dunshaughlin?

Agree with young Gray. If some of the lads especially Gray can carry there form through to championship I think we have a great chance come three weeks time!

Fantastic performance from Dunshaughlin. Ruairí Kinsella was outstanding as was Conor Gray but it was a superb team performance with a well coached sweeper system executed by no 5 Fursey Blake. A lot of people thought this Cillies team was unstoppable but other than a 15 min spell in the second half Dunshaughlin were always in control. A great advertisement for Meath minor football with two teams playing an excellent brand of football. Well done to both teams and mentors. woodside (Wexford) - Posts: 12 - 27/09/2020 16:25:34 2294307 Link 0 |
Dunshaughlin was a great matchup and exposed a weakness of Cilles goalkeepers lack of height to get two early goals. The 7 points was very flattering to Dunshaughlin. It was a one point game with 5 mins left. Cilles never reached the heights of the early rounds, credit to Dunshaughlin for their physicality and intensity and use of their number 5 as a very effective sweeper. Still think there's a lot of talent in that Cilles team. And they won't be far off winning it next year I would think

Dunshaughlin had some great performers on the day, Gray, Kinsella and McDonagh especially. Colmcilles we're away to open at the back Especially in the first half and did not make use of the spare man at all. Dunshaughlin really crowded the central area at the back whilst Cilles kept running up the middle and played entire first half with no width. Goals win matches and in opening half Dunshaughlin got got two great goals but aided by some very poor defending. Cilles were chasing the game for long periods thereafter and whilst they put up a bold show they just could not get it back level. Credit Dunshaughlin for performance but have to question the tactical setup of the Cilles or lack off. Talking_Sense (Meath) - Posts: 209 - 27/09/2020 19:48:24 2294351 Link 0 |
Yeah thought bringing young Daly back on was questionable. He could hardly run when he came back on

Flattering or not, it's very welcome. Congrats to the lads and the management team. Great boost going into another important weekend.
