What is the story with a wallover being given by Skryne in Div 1 second round. Bad form and not good for football

Didn't have the numbers to field

Worrying enough seeing a division one team not fielding but after the beating they got in the first round you couldn't really blame the young lads

You're saying Skryne don't have 15 lads born between 03 and 05 fit and available to play football for them. Dire stuff if that's the case

Not buying that one, if Kilmainhamwood and Clonard can field teams, thete is no reason why Skryne can't get players out, for div 1 it is poor to say the least

Heard St Colmcilles would not agree to move the game from the Wednesday . Pretty silly given they would beat Scrin 7 nights of the week. At this level. Might come back to bite St Colmcilles. Game time is everything and they play Dunshaughlin I hear next

From what I was led to believe Skryne would have had the numbers if it was played this weekend but St. Colmcilles felt rescheduling that close to their game against Dunshaughlin this coming Wednesday was too risky for them.

Had a look down through results at minor football level and it looks like Skryne & Na Fianna unable to field

If they have the numbers at the weekend then how do they not have the numbers on a Wednesday. Still refuse to believe Skryne couldn't get 15 players between 3 age groups

Fixtures were published at least 3 weeks ago, there should be no requirement to move games, cilles v Dunshaughlin next week is probably a dress rehearsal for final. Its the second year that a div one team has not fulfilled fixtures. Na fianna not fielding is another joke. Hats off to the 'Wood , Clonard, Ballinlough and other rural clubs who manage to get teams out without amalgamation with other clubs.

Sure maybe Scrin have U15's in the U17 team and they played the Tuesday. Bit much to ask them to play Minor on the Wednesday next day as well. Surely St Colmcilles could have accomodated moving the game.

Ah that's weak. There was a full round of u15 across the county so most clubs were impacted. Full round of u15 again before the final round

Well are the Cilles playing U15's in there Minor team. The answer is a big NO. Big club no consideration for clubs with smaller picks and players playing across multiple teams

It's a sign for any people from bigger clubs like St Colmcilles (who have a Population catchment area of 28,000) do not know the reality of clubs with much smaller populations and how younger players have to play up so a club can field a team if they don't understand why Skryne could not field a team in the Minor last Wednesday evening.
Along with Skryne three other Division 1 teams (Summerhill, Duleek & Dunshaughlin) have populations of only 5,000 or less, so maybe Skryne were taking player welfare into account and did not want a lot of players playing 2 nights in a row. In reality although St. Colmcilles were under no obligation to accommodate a change, they should have considered the Skryne predicament and in reality if they have ambitions of winning the whole thing they should not be worrying about trying to beat Skryne. St Colmcilles would have been better served playing the game and giving a chance to some of their fringe players get a chance to get some game Minor Championship game time who probably will not have the opportunity in all the other games they play in the MFC.

My understanding is that Skryne were offered 2 different days to play the game by cilles but refused both and gave the walkover.

Apparently Cilles offered a number of alternative earlier dates. Skryne turned them down and would only play at a later date. That Dunshaughlin Cilles game is down for the following week. It would have made no sense for Cilles to play later.

Replying To Talking_Sense:  "Minor Championship is 2 horse race . Dunshaughlin V St Colmcilles. St Colmcilles have been seriously good at this age group . Tyrone man Jude McNabb had those lads in 7 County Finals in a row and I think they may have won all 7 Div1 Titles, definitely won 6 in a row anyway as I recall. But interestingly he is now coaching Simonstown Gaels Seniors last year and this year as well and now I think his absence could well be the difference and so Dunshaughlin will fancy their chances to win the Minor ."
Yes Dunshaughlin look strong though I think that McNabb fella was coaching this bunch in the 16s final last year and Dunshaughlin beat them well that day so all to play for!

Finger Crossed. We could do with a lift at minor level, or
any other level for that matter lol
