Plans to reintroduce seeding in the Munster SFC have been postponed until 2027 at least.
Traditional giants Kerry and Cork were due to be seeded after Munster GAA decided in July that the two top-ranked counties in the Allianz Football League would be placed in opposing semi-finals for a three-year period. Kerry won Division 1, while Cork finished in Division 2.
The decision, however, was met with strong opposition by players in the four non-seeded counties of Limerick, Tipperary, Clare and Waterford who, with the support of the GPA, have forced a deferral of the provincial body’s plans. It means that the 2026 Munster SFC draw on Thursday, November 27 will be the same as it has been since 2015 with this year’s finalists Kerry and Clare being seeded and receiving byes into the semi-finals.
