Cork got their Munster U20 football championship campaign back on track last night (Thursday) with a first win in the grade over old rivals Kerry since 2021.
It finished 0-10 to 0-9 at SuperValu Pairc Ui Chaoimh, where Danny Miskella’s two-pointer in the closing stages ultimately ended up making the difference for the hosts.
Miskella’s free had sent the Rebels in level at the end of a low-scoring first-half (0-3 to 0-3) and Mark O’Brien’s long-range effort saw them hitting the front before the visitors fought back to square things through the points of Tomás Kennedy and Mairtin McKivergan.
Odrhan Fahey nudged Ray Keane’s side back in front and Kinsella would sail over his two-pointer in the 55th minute ahead of scores from Daniel Kirby and Kennedy (free) at the other end leaving Kerry one short in the end.
In Kilmihil, two late frees from Paddy McCarthy saw Waterford record a 2-14 to 2-13 win against Clare.

The Deise lads had trailed by 1-8 to 0-5 at the halfway stage and looked in a world of trouble once Daire Culligan rattled their net in the 37th minute.
However, goals from David Nyhan and Joe Brennan turned things around for them and, from there, the points of Nyhan, Brennan (free) and a hat-trick of frees from McCarthy would see their side over the line.
The results mean Waterford are now set to meet Cork next Wednesday evening for a place in the southern province’s final against Kerry.
