A poor enough article really. Ignores the fact that Cavan scored 15 points, 2-22 and 1-17 in their championship games last year and decides that this sudden scoring spree has started this year. Again like a lot of the people on here, he had a story in his head to write and picks and chooses the facts to build it. Had he written about the change in approach last year I would have been really impressed.

Still, at least it's a respectful article not like the last piece of rubbish from McGee out of the Indo.

In fact, Hyland has held Cavan Football back for the last 5 years playing a defensively minded game,

In the last 5 years he has only won 2 out of 3 Ulster U21's and appeared in one U21 All Ireland Final ,won 2 Leinster junior titles and an All Ireland junior title , and under him we appeared in an All Ireland quarter final. He has brought us from the depths of Div 3 from where we were close to relegation twice, to a position in these last two league campaigns where going into the last game both times we have a chance of promotion .Indeed its being a long while when Cavan have played in the top two divisions of the National league for three consecutive years.
In the 40 years previous we won 1 senior Ulster title ,2 U21's and 2 McKenna cups, so forgive me if I beg to differ with your opinion and say that Hyland in fact has brought Cavan football forward in the last 5 years, to a point where people now expect Cavan to achieve success rather than hope they can achieve success .

I think in all fairness it's time people left Hugine Keating alone he is back on the panel and it was not long ago many were knocking Mr Hyland for not having him about. He is here he will come good why not enjoy the win and the position we are in and what may unfold next Sunday but I expect many of you will listen to the radio and I will add mostly very biased.

Sean, before the summer is over Eugene Keating will make a major contribution to the team. With his ability it's a matter of when not if! I would be more worried if he was not getting on the ball.

Will be in Seville on Sunday on a weeks break, God willing the boys can finish off the job.

This is certainly Cavan's biggest games in years. Fair play to Hyland n his players, they have stood up, performed at the highest levels, and have now the most scores in Ireland. All have criticised Hyland here, including myself, and our shout for success, has ignored his hard work over several long years. Since the second half's performance against the Royals, more like soft Royals, the team has transformed itself.
After two close but still no points after Tyrone ( God knows when was last time we beat Tyrone in Cham/League....my guess is 1997 in league play-off) n Derry, it all looked bad) Each player, both sub, n starter has being outstanding. The support in play, the tackling, the running, kick outs, fielding, shooting n more are a certain step up since last years Championship against the Rossies. Hard work n determination has its rewards!
This is the game I'm most worried about, as when under pressure like Sunday, Cavan sometimes under perform. With a big crowd, and people to support the team, the chance is certainly there. While Championship is always the goal (Armagh are going better now), the team has deserved its place in second, and promotion, and a Croker day are there for the taking! Hey its 1998 since Cavan played Division one proper, (League Final 2003 was a different set up), and Breffini people all around want this! Let this youth movement of Hyland continue!

Keating rejoined the panel mid January after playing into December with kilmacud. He would still be getting up to fitness to rest of the panel, was out for a while with the hamstring which would have been a setback too.

Funny looking interview with hyland RE: Johnston injury. If I were him I would be saying that he is 90% likely to miss it. but he is saying that he is hopeful. Maybe there is no need for mind games. With or without Johnston, we have enough quality in that forward line to make their day a rough one. McKiernan will be the man to lead the charge I hope - I have really enjoyed watching him play this year! Was wasted at midfield and fair play to Mossy Corr for holding things together and helping Buchanan make the step up!

Posters are losing the run of themselves here. We've won 4 league games against 4 teams that have won 5 games between them out of 24. Relax calm down. We should be beating teams like we bet with all the underage success we have had and a manager that's 4 years in the job. Let's remember Hyland was part of a management set up that got rid of Seanie in the first place . Yes he has had the decency to admit he made a mistake . Let's see how Sunday goes. This will be the test to see if we got the bottle and mental strength to move to the next level. But as usual we will ***** the bed like we always do

Look foolsgold we are playing well . We have backtracked and changed the style of play to more attacking hence the big scores. And it's great to see. But stop building this game up. We beat Galway away last year so if we have improved we should beat them at home . Half the posters here including you Foolsgold didn't want Seanie anywhere the set up, but his presence has brought leadership to a forward line that didn't know what attacking football was 6 months ago. If we win on Sunday I will be the first to praise Hyland from the rooftops! . Losing won't be the end of the world because posters here are happy with average success. I'm not .

Stop building the game up? Playing Division 1 would be big progress. Cavan were close to Division 4 not that long ago.. Beating Galway last year is irrelevant to this year. Both teams have players back. They didn't have the Corofin players that day.

I doubted Johnston would be recalled but fair play to him, he is playing very consistent

Great to see the buzz surrounding this game. Certainly the biggest game in Breffni in years. Let's hope the players do themselves justice on the day. If Galway are the better team well so be it, as long as we play to our potential.

When you compare underage successes and transition to Senior Level, then Cavan should be up there with the top teams, unfortunately, over the last 5 years that didn't happen because Hyland doesn't have the ability to bring them on. As Awwwnow correctly pointed out, we've beaten 4 teams, that have won 5 matches out of 24 between them! Hopefully this year is the turning point, but the issue is that we seemed to have pinned a lot of our hopes on Seanie, who sadly might miss the game on Sunday.

We need to push on now.. Win Sunday and there no reason why we can't beat Tyrone in a league final in Croker. That should be the aim of players , management and supporters.. We need to get rid of the "nearly team" tag. Middle of the road success is not enough anymore. After 4 years it's time to deliver on Sunday. No excuses. And if fully expect to beat Tyrone in a league final if this group is finally going to become of age. That is what I will call a successful season .

To be fair we are putting a lot of emphasis on the U21 4 in a row success. These players are now transitioning from boys to men. Givney and Co were the first of the five in a row finalists and they are just turning 26.
Hopefully this is the year when we make the break through.
Sunday will be a big test of nerves for them and hopefully we can produce the goods.
