I don't believe that there are many "knockers" on here at all. Cavan_Slasher (Cavan) - Posts: 10253 - 29/03/2016 12:43:10 1838756 Link 0 |
Steady Eddie. Maybe a little harsh regarding Monaghan. I wouldn't exactly say we crumbled. Monaghan are a different proposition to Galway and you have to give the Farney men some credit in that match. Stronger panel won the game. I also think we're stronger than last year. Question maybe for Sean. Are Aron Watson, Conor Madden, Gerry Smith, Joe Dillon and Tom Hayes still involved with the panel. Also is Paul O'Connor fully fit? Same question regarding Fergal Flanagan? We certainly seem to have a very strong panel of players at the moment and some real talent in our underage ranks as well. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 29/03/2016 12:55:57 1838768 Link 0 |
Nothing wrong with various opinions Slasher but it was the complete lack of credit for anything the management have achieved I'd have a problem with and also the lack of acknowledgement of the constraints they were under personnel wise. The total blanket is a myth. This management has always shown a willingness to attack. You don't win a haul of Ulster titles, Leinster and All Ireland titles without an attacking philosophy. Trying to emulate that on a higher playing field needs patience to develop and bring young (and older) players through. Hopefully we are starting to turn a corner and seeing some of the fruits of our labour. Maybe Terry Hyland isn't the complete idiot a lot of posters on here would have you believe. lets not get carried away with last week, we beat a poor Laois side who didnt seem organised at all. Galway will be a different story next week. I feel that sometimes when we get ahead we tend to sit back and the half forward line gets very deep which isnt what we need . Promotion would be nice but i think we should really put all our efforts into winning an ulster title as it would be a huge boost for football in the county at all levels. Good to see Hardtimes coming out of the woodwork, As I said in previous posts, I am thoroughly delighted that Hyland has finally taken the shackles off and allowed this team to start playing football. As Mr O Rinn correctly stated, it has all the hallmarks of McHale written all over it. Cast your minds back to an interview that McHale did with Today FM, on the Wednesday before the Monaghan match, McHale correctly stated that Hyland was too defensively minded. We had Monaghan on the ropes with 20 minutes left of the match, when instructions came from the side-line to revert to a defensive style and this was the beating of us, nothing else. In fact, Hyland has held Cavan Football back for the last 5 years playing a defensively minded game, however, credit where credit is due, he's realised his mistakes and its actually delightful to see Cavan playing an attacking brand of football. You can actually see that the players are actually enjoying it. deanmartin (Cavan) - Posts: 643 - 29/03/2016 14:23:39 1838824 Link 0 |

I don't think the total blanket was a myth at all Hardtimes. Cavan_Slasher (Cavan) - Posts: 10253 - 29/03/2016 14:31:13 1838833 Link 0 |
Dean instead of sitting at home updating that awful Facebook page of yours you should go out and watch Cavan play. We've been playing attacking fast moving football for well over a year now. Just because that football is now yielding results the more casual supporters think we've only just started!! Inactive x5 (Cavan) - Posts: 1452 - 29/03/2016 14:59:15 1838842 Link 0 |
I understand Sean. No worries. Also if we beat Galway we play Tyrone in Division 2 final. Hardtimes (Cavan) - Posts: 1056 - 29/03/2016 15:10:00 1838848 Link 0 |
If there's mindless slagging to be had could you all at least try to be original? Skelling (USA) - Posts: 289 - 29/03/2016 15:42:05 1838885 Link 0 |
Sunday will be my first time to Breffni Park and looking forward to it! Where would be a handy spot to park travelling from Dublin? Rocky.Road (Galway) - Posts: 376 - 29/03/2016 15:50:01 1838890 Link 0 |
Jonsmith - I've been attending Cavan games since the early 80s, and still attend them, have attended most games this year, except one McKenna Cup game...how many have you seen? I've probably seen a few more than Skelling in the USA who has attended 0, but still feels qualified to make comments. deanmartin (Cavan) - Posts: 643 - 29/03/2016 17:01:17 1838939 Link 0 |
Liam McHale was brought in last year as a forward coach, so the plan was obviously to focus on attack. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2824 - 29/03/2016 17:06:24 1838944 Link 0 |
Agree with some posts cavan look a much more fluent team this year and look dangerous going forward !!! I do have my concerns in defence how easy meath in the first half and Laois in the second half split us open !!! jackser (Meath) - Posts: 37 - 29/03/2016 17:49:55 1838982 Link 0 |

I would be a bit worried about this game on Sunday...Galway are no mugs and are streets ahead of a Laois team that caused us plenty of problems... We played well in the first half but seemed to drift back into our slow over passing mode in the second half which allowed Laois funnel players back when a quick ball was called for... A couple of concerns for me would be...1 Our record in last round must win games has been pretty poor over the years so hopefully we will handle the pressure and no 2... This will be our first game on our mini revival that we are lining out without Seani Johnstone who will be a huge loss...maybe Paul O Connor or Jack will come in and do the business.. Let's hope for a nice day and a huge crowd to push the lads over the line so we can get a crack at the Dubs next season..!!!' Sean.66 (Cavan) - Posts: 293 - 29/03/2016 17:52:36 1838986 Link 0 |
Rocky road once you go through roundabout on n3 going into Cavan there are lots of places to abandon the car. If in time could even park in ground but takes a while to get out. Anywhere near Meadow View gives you a short walk. Couple retail parks you can park too. Hope you enjoy the game but not the result!!!! doratheexplorer (Cavan) - Posts: 1467 - 29/03/2016 18:09:11 1838993 Link 0 |
Is SJ injury that bad I would not be a bit surprised if Mr Hyland starts the same 15 before kick off last Sunday. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 29/03/2016 18:20:34 1838998 Link 0 |
Cavan Crystal in at the back plenty room there but if you are dragging your feet you will not get any space in the ground but if early maybe. I would say park at the crystal short walk to the park and you will get away far quicker afterwards. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 29/03/2016 18:34:42 1839006 Link 0 |
