Replying To 97Cavans:  "Any more thoughts on Longford? There were some brilliant individual performances Gerry Smith in particular kicking five marvellous points off both feet. The "give it a lash" crew will be happy enough anyway I'm sure as we certainly did that. But we had no control of the game. I thought that when we slowed it down and played measured football we actually looked very dangerous. Although having said that, the Roscommon defence is woeful. And yet they have so many top forwards. They are a strange one. But they certainly shouldn't fear Tyrone if they sort their defence out.

It was great to see McVeety back and he was the only one to show a bit of niggle when he came on. The rest of the game was like a challenge match. It's a pity because it would have been interesting to see if the pressure would have gotten to Roscommon. How did Gough give a yellow instead of a black for the foul on Madden at the start of the second half. I thought our own kick outs were better - more movement. Opposition kick outs were not good. It's a long time until next January"
Yeah, played wide open, but as you say never in control.

Plenty of goal chances on each side. They score 3 to our 1. That was the difference.

When you play so open you leave yourself open to losing a 50/50 game like that.

Is a black card not given if its a deliberate hand pr foot trip? That foul the Cavan forward ran over the Roscommin defenders leg. Was nothing close to deliberate trip.
Cavan got a point for a shot that was two foot wide in first half

It was just a wide open game… Roscommon were not nearly as defensive as they were against Dublin or Mayo… probably knew they had the forwards to out score ours…which they only just managed to do… It reminded me of the high scoring league final between the 2 sides a few years ago… not a defender to be seen… They will play a totally different game when they meet Tyrone…

If he ran over his leg then what would the yellow card be for

Ref adjudged it to be a foul and gave a yellow and if you were at it he originally wasn't going to book him only did after roars from the stands. You see it plenty of times a defender standing and attackers runs through him and loses his feet, Decision always goes with attacker. But was never a black or you would need to read the rule book. It has to be a deliberate hand or foot trip for that...
Any comment on the two tard wide Cavan were awarded a point for?

That would have to be put down to a bad umpiring decision…. It had no bearing on the outcome of the game thankfully…!

Lobby your county board to raise an objection. Clearly had a significant impact on the result and a replay is the only fair resolution

What are you on about? I was replying to a lads crying about a correct call by the ref, Pointing out Cavan had their own luck with officials on the day. Best team won get over it.

Look at the time this poor attempt at trolling was sent. I'm actually embarrassed for 'Mr Smith' that he'd set his alarm to send such nonsense.

It's humerous that you entertain the idea I have multiple profiles. It shows your level of wit but then again no one here is surprised.

Sure, 'Tom', we believe you. Good luck against Galway. It won't do if you end up out of the championship next week. Ten years without a senior title of any sort. Only the likes of Waterford and London can boast that level of failure.

It's now 2024. If you don't win the All Ireland this year, Tom, next year it will be 10 years at least since 2015 that you've won nothing. It might make you reconsider your opinion that the Ulster Championship is no longer worth winning. There's the cold hard facts.

Your great run didn't last long…. waste of time and money… one win the whole season … embarrassing

Replying To veterngaa:  "The talk coming into this week is complaints about the championship structure … as I mentioned a few weeks ago the Ulster championship means nothing in the scheme of things … if Monaghan win today it will be another year of advancing further than Cavan .. nothing new there but you keep celebrating your win over us as the pinnacle of your season"
Congratulations on winning the 'we lasted a week longer than our neighbours' cup. On now to the post Mcmanus world of division two, defeats to Cavan, and watching more successful neighbours, such as Louth, taking your underdogs tag. As you said, at least we have our win over you.

Vetern gaa some day you will wake up and smell the roses two teams have a chance of winning sam this year dublin and kerry and most years this will be the same may be a third contender next year in Donegal everyone else is only making up the numbers and playing meaningless games to fill the gaa coffers with cash but the public are catching on quick and attendances will drop of each year even Roscommon had no support for the dead rubber in healy park as supporters have lost interest. The only cup that monaghan and 8 other counties in ulster have any chance of winning is the Anglo Celt cup which is still a brilliant competition and the only one teams should concentrate on. Sam Maguire is a dead rubber should just play the best of three games between kerry and dublin.
