Replying To ForeverBlue2:  "Why did they not just stick to the pre determined semi final draw…. With this we could end up with a boring Dublin / Kerry Final every year… no thanks"
That's probably the only likely final that wouldn't be boring.

Great that it's over for another year, instead of dragging it out into July.

Yes, Tom, it's a small consolation but one we enjoyed immensely. When two local rivals are in a relatively poor place, it is ever more important that you put your rival in their box as often as you can. We would rather challenge for honours but will have to be content for now with dominating little Monaghan.

The talk coming into this week is complaints about the championship structure … as I mentioned a few weeks ago the Ulster championship means nothing in the scheme of things … if Monaghan win today it will be another year of advancing further than Cavan .. nothing new there but you keep celebrating your win over us as the pinnacle of your season

Just as I suspected Roscommon played a more open type of game compared to the way they set up against Dublin.. this led to a more enjoyable game with lots of good scores… All over for Cavan now and it won't worry too many I'd say… Crowd was very small yet again which just proves people have no appetite for this type of championship format…

Unless you win the All Ireland which you haven't a hope of doing then advancing further in the Championship than Cavan will mean nothing other than wasting more money that you don't have… Just think about it…!!!

I love how our consistent derby bothers you so much. Local rivalry, especially jealous jabs at a bigger and more successful neighbour, is what the gaa was built on. As a bonus, Tom, your regular posting under this handle, as he'd say himself, means our other frequent Monaghan visitor doesn't get the chance to post his 'hilarious' Cavan jokes and dry humour.

When crowds were low last year (not as bad as this year) the blame was on mickey graham, terry hyland and terrible negative football. Now we are involved in high scoring games which we get well bet in, the blame for bad crowds is the championship structure.
Crowds are bad lad because supporters are not hopeful of winning.

No, I don't need to meet you, Tom. You're welcome to keep posting here as a Monaghan poster. It gives us a break from that other identity. Though, at least your other handle 'claims' to be from Cavan.

I know you are. We also always knew that Tom, as your more famous handle goes by, was a Monaghan man. Anyway, you're spending a lot of time here arguing. Get outside, enjoy the evening. Call back when Monaghan wins a meaningful trophy.

you are away with the fairies veterngaa the only cup that cavan or monaghan can win in the championship any year is the anglo celt cup which is a far better competition than the sam maguire where as normal this year 2 teams have a realistic chance of winning. As i stated at this time last year Cavan still have the same chance as monaghan of winning Sam Maguire this year and that wont change in the near future and thats no slur on monaghan. Time to come back to reality and see the Anglo celt cup or ulster championship for what it is a brilliant competition which great competitive games and most teams in ulster have a chance of winning every so often.

Any more thoughts on Longford? There were some brilliant individual performances Gerry Smith in particular kicking five marvellous points off both feet. The "give it a lash" crew will be happy enough anyway I'm sure as we certainly did that. But we had no control of the game. I thought that when we slowed it down and played measured football we actually looked very dangerous. Although having said that, the Roscommon defence is woeful. And yet they have so many top forwards. They are a strange one. But they certainly shouldn't fear Tyrone if they sort their defence out.

It was great to see McVeety back and he was the only one to show a bit of niggle when he came on. The rest of the game was like a challenge match. It's a pity because it would have been interesting to see if the pressure would have gotten to Roscommon. How did Gough give a yellow instead of a black for the foul on Madden at the start of the second half. I thought our own kick outs were better - more movement. Opposition kick outs were not good. It's a long time until next January
