Be honest with yourself we have far too much baggage that have brought Cavan back down to Division 2 and as it stands they will bring Cavan to division 3 after the 2020 campaign.
Time to remove the weak players that are not inter county standard and bring the players that have not been brain washed by manual coaches.
I would rather 20 odd players who have not gone through the system that would listen to your ideas and work with you. I am sure a lot of what went on yesterday was not in the managements script. (Having said that it will be as you were next year same faces)
Another issue attacking the goalkeeper R Galligan it's not his fault if players are not prepared to work at getting the ball or even making themselves available. I feel sorry for him to be honest for he has been responsible for getting Cavan where they got to yesterday. RESPECT

Looking at the Donegal team yesterday who on the Cavan team would Donegal like to have as a panel member."
Have to laugh at some people. One loss to possible all ireland contenders and people talking about revamping the whole squad. Wise up. Time to dust ourselves down, get the hunger back for the qualifiers and put things right where we went wrong!"
Yes off course same story for years and remember the majority of these players are there several years now. It will be the same story next year and the year after if changes are not made. I am not looking for the managers head we have had enough of that crap over the last 13 years. I hope for next year the manager will bring in his own players that might be of help to him after the championship. I don't think thats a lot to ask for at the end of the day as a genuine supporter. I remember the joy of the 97 Ulster final brought to many so it would be nice to see it again. The super 8 means nothing to me to be honest it is just a handy way for head office to fleece more money from the die hard supporters. Just my opinion at the end of the day and everyone to their own."]Hmmm time for you to sober up

So we will be in Division 3 after next year. Wise up will ya. Such a drama queen."
I wish i could mute him."]There wasn't a peep out of him after the Armagh game!"]I made no comment about the Armagh game because I was in Hospital for nine day's.
I was not at it and I don't comment on games I don't see. That has alway's been my way and it will not change. By the way I am being very conservative with my comments for if I I wrote what I am thinking I would upset the majority of the posters on here truth to be told. Stop getting carried away try and look at the games and be open minded. If you only watch the Blue and white you cannot give an unbiased opinion it's that simple.

The scoreboard doesn't reflect the hammering we got. Our named inside forward line scored 0-1 between them. Look at any other results over the weekend and see the scoring ratio of the name inside forward line on any team this weekend.
That will give you an idea of where we are at scoring wise.
Our subs scored 2-3 between them so the question has to be asked about team selection.
The stats don't lie.
We were off the pace from the word go. Every fisted point Donegal got could have been a shot at goal if they needed it.
Centre half back Clarke picking up Murphy left us open and vulnerable through the middle.
We need to play to our strengths and not get obsessed about the opposition.
Changing the full forwardline before throw in back fired big time.
Super 8s would give us good competitive games at a higher level and can only be of benefit in the long run.

Repeat fixtures weren't allowed last year - see this link link

I'm almost certain it's the same this year.

yeah, totally agree. we knew that they were going to try and limit McVeetys and Martin Reillys impact on the game yesterday by putting their best backs and attention on them, so was mind boggling to see them drop three forwards that could have impacted on the game in the first half.
We still wouldnt have beaten them but we would have stayed in the game for longer than 20 minutes.
As a result, the game was over at half time. I suspect Madden and mackey would have been even more influential in the 2nd half if they knew they had something to play for!

Cavan can be drawn against any other team bar Armagh Cork and Galway have no potential repeat pairings. while Meath cannot be drawn against the winners off Laois V Offaly as they have already played both, This is from RTE sports section

You do realise our named inside forward line didn't start the game??

A good chunk of the Donegal team were on the Donegal U21 team in 2017 that hammered Cavan in Enniskillen. Jamie Brennan, McMenanim, Gallagher, McGee, Langán,. McGee was only 19 then and looked more conditioned then any of the Cavan players

Fair enough, I was mistaken on that. Its good news as it improves our odds in the draw a bit.

We all know there was an exodus under McGleenan, Mickey has done sterling work to get the panel back together again.

Cavan_Shambles (Cavan) - Posts: 306 - 24/06/2019 13:36:03 2199897

Bit of perspective here lads. We are a young team, as in young in development under Mickey Graham. We will need 2 - 3 years of strength and conditioning to match what Donegal brought to the table yesterday in physicality. however the only way we will do this is to keep this squad together and not have the same turnover of players we have had over the last 3 - 4 years. Very positive this year under Mickey Graham. You have to remember he is still finding his feet at this level and it is a very steep learning curve. i'd be very optimistic for the future.

Cutler (Cavan) - Posts: 16 - 24/06/2019 10:49:04 2199727

Cavanshambles ,If there was such an exodus of players under McGleenan how is it that 12 of the 18 players who played against Donegal in 2018 also featured yesterday and this doesn't include Killian Brady who was on the bench yesterday or Martin Reilly who was injured in 2018.Just who or how many players exactly did Mickey entice back??
Cutler, as for the huge turnover of players, 13 of the players that featured in the losing semi final v Tyrone in 2016 featured yesterday with another 2 unused subs. and of the other 5 players used that day I believe R Dunne,T Corr,E Keating retired from inter county football, D Givney in London and not too sure about F Flanagan .So for anyone to say we have a huge turnover of players is totally misleading.
What we have now is a strong core of 25/26 year olds with the experience of many seasons of inter county football, along with Mackey,Reilly & R Galligan, to which the young up and coming lads like Conor Brady,Pierson,Rehill , T Galligan can gel with and learn. We've come a long way in the last 6/7 years and hopefully Mickey can take us to the next level and the super 8's and given time maybe that elusive Anglo Celt Cup.

Do provincial losers get home advantage does anyone know? Or is it first drawn from the pot plays at home?

True, I'd love to know what they're feeding those lads above in donegal. How is it that they look much more conditioned than we do? Jamie brennan is a prime example, the Lad is 22 and he's built like a tank, without compromising his pace.

Question; when was last time we beat Donegal at senior level in league or championship? I remember the draw in 92 but don't remember us beating them in last 3 decades

We beat them in the back door one year, by a point in Breffni I think in the era of Larry and Jason

Remember beating them in the 2005 qualifiers in Breffni , beat Meath in Clones and then were beat by Mayo in the Hyde. Indeed we got the mother of all beating by Tyrone in an Ulster semi final replay the same year.

We have beaten all these Donegal players at underage level. They have developed At Senior level at a faster rate than our lads have. 8 years ago Val Andrews decided he didn't need experience thus leaving lads like Clarke and McKiernan in the deep end. Imagine Mackey was finished 8 years ago and he still doing the business today.
Donegal use their experienced players that are left from 2012 senior winning team correctly .
They blend in young players into positions along side players like N Mc Gee and Murphy and have players like McGlynn and McLoone to call on if needed.,

They've also thrashed us at underage.
It counts for very little.
