I think we need to go all out for the Super 8s.
The 4 games played to date will have done wonders for the lads - I was a hell of a lot more satisfied at full time yesterday than at half time (I know Donegal dropped their intensity). We've something to learn and take from each game and 4 more games in this year's championship, all against strong opposition will help too.
IF we do make the Super 8s, we play Dublin, Roscommon, and another qualifier (Cork or the team who beats them). I think that gives us a varying level of opposition, and a chance to measure ourselves against the best.

Anyone know if the round 4 qualifier draw is an open draw, or are the provincial losers kept apart? I think they are, but can someone clarify?
It's looking like it'll be,
Mayo, Tyrone, Westmeath, Laois,

I was delighted to get to an Ulster Final this year. Didn't expect it and felt we needed Donegal to underperform or us to get a great start to win it. Neither was the case, Donegal were very professional and were clearly the best team. Good luck to them.
The gap between the teams was so wide on the day that Donegal were running in subs from 10 mins of second half. That's the reality of where we were yesterday, nothing to be ashamed off and a lot better than last year. As pointed out earlier, you often need to lose one to win one 95/97 and they will learn from this.
It would be great to have a real go at the qualifier. Even if we get to the Super 8's and perform poorly, the experience would be invaluable. Look at Ross and how they used it to their benefit this year.
Yes, we now know that we have players who aren't up to the next level. Up to Mickey to change that in the next McKenna cup and league. We have what we have now, so last chance I'd imagine for some of them.

The qualifier draw was good from a Cavan perspective, we have a 50% chance of missing a doc one team next week , hopefully Cavan can regroup and sort out the internal dispute over team selection and get up for the next game , would be a great achievement to get to the super 8s

Mickey and Co have definitely improved things and we were in bonus territory on Sunday. I think even he would admit he got the team selection wrong especially the full forward like. C o Reilly should definitely have got more game time as should J Brady. Changing S Murray for N Murray was like for like ( similar types of players)

Best case scenario is Armagh (who we can't play) to beat Mayo - not impossible.
Then avoid the winner of Kildare v Tyrone and we're in with a real chance of making the Super 8s.

Winners of our game and Cork game enter Dublin/Ros group
Winners of Galway game and Meath game enter Donegal/Kerry group
We can't play Armagh again (if they beat Mayo)

Bit of perspective here lads. We are a young team, as in young in development under Mickey Graham. We will need 2 - 3 years of strength and conditioning to match what Donegal brought to the table yesterday in physicality. however the only way we will do this is to keep this squad together and not have the same turnover of players we have had over the last 3 - 4 years. Very positive this year under Mickey Graham. You have to remember he is still finding his feet at this level and it is a very steep learning curve. i'd be very optimistic for the future.

So was Mattie and what happened to him? Be honest with yourself we have far too much baggage that have brought Cavan back down to Division 2 and as it stands they will bring Cavan to division 3 after the 2020 campaign. Time to remove the weak players that are not inter county standard and bring the players that have not been brain washed by manual coaches. I would rather 20 odd players who have not gone through the system that would listen to your ideas and work with you. I am sure a lot of what went on yesterday was not in the managements script. (Having said that it will be as you were next year same faces) Another issue attacking the goalkeeper R Galligan it's not his fault if players are not prepared to work at getting the ball or even making themselves available. I feel sorry for him to be honest for he has been responsible for getting Cavan where they got to yesterday. RESPECT
Looking at the Donegal team yesterday who on the Cavan team would Donegal like to have as a panel member.

No disrespect to Mattie McGleenan but he was brought down on a contract, we have out own man in the job now, someone who wants it passionately and who wore the Cavan Jersey with pride, difference of day and night in the motivation. I don't agree with naming and shaming of players that goes on here, this is the panel we have at the minute, they came up against a more experienced and physically bigger side yesterday, we lost. Referring to players as baggage is totally out of order in my book. I commend the players for their commitment, its a thankless job a lot of the time. I cannot ever envisage the hurlers on the ditch including myself as ever been able to give the level of commitment that they do in the modern era. Best of luck to Mickey and the lads in 2 weeks time !! An Cabhán Abú

Yes off course same story for years and remember the majority of these players are there several years now. It will be the same story next year and the year after if changes are not made. I am not looking for the managers head we have had enough of that crap over the last 13 years. I hope for next year the manager will bring in his own players that might be of help to him after the championship. I don't think thats a lot to ask for at the end of the day as a genuine supporter. I remember the joy of the 97 Ulster final brought to many so it would be nice to see it again. The super 8 means nothing to me to be honest it is just a handy way for head office to fleece more money from the die hard supporters. Just my opinion at the end of the day and everyone to their own.

Time and time again you've ranted about "the manager bringing in his own players".
Whose players do you think these lads are? We all know there was an exodus under McGleenan, Mickey has done sterling work to get the panel back together again.
We were poor yesterday, there are problem positions, but we have the best man for the job in the job and the experience will stand to these lads. I fancy us to win division 2 next year, talk of relegation is outright nonsense.
