Loughmacrory defeated Carrickmore by 1-14 to 4-6 in Omagh last night to advance to the Tyrone senior football championship final for the first time.

After missing a late penalty, Ruairi McCullagh kicked the winning score from a two-pointer to secure his team’s place in the O’Neill Cup decider against Trillick next weekend.

The opening 10 minutes of this semi-final replay saw Cathaoir Gallagher and Aidan Woods exchanging goals and it was McCullagh’s point which was the difference between the sides by the end of the first time (1-4 to 1-3).

Loughmacrory pushed their lead up to four after the change of ends, but Lorcan McGarrity netted a goal to trim their deficit to four and did likewise in the 53rd minute through Tiarnan Loughran’s green flag (1-13 to 3-6).

Gareth Donaghy pushed Loughmacrory’s lead out two again prior to another Loughran goal hitting their net from the penalty spot on the hour mark.

A tense finish at Healy Park saw McCullagh coming up trumps for Loughmacrory in the end, as sailed over from beyond the arc in injury-time to leave his team a win away from their first county SFC crown.
