The Kerry senior football championship delivered plenty of drama yesterday, with All-Ireland champions Dingle eliminated by Spa.
Dingle were unable to build on their recent success as Spa produced an impressive performance to secure a 1-17 to 1-11 victory.
The holders found themselves in trouble early on, trailing 0-12 to 1-5 at half-time after Spa established control of the contest.
Dingle battled to close the gap after the restart, but Spa remained composed and finished strongly with a Cian Murphy goal to knock the reigning All-Ireland champions out.
Elsewhere, David Clifford’s late two-pointer earned East Kerry a dramatic 1-12 to 1-11 win over Mid Kerry, while Austin Stacks and Dr Crokes also progressed. Rathmore also edged St Kieran’s by a single point.
The quarter-final line-up in the Kingdom is set to be confirmed today with Kenmare Shamrocks facing West Kerry (1.30pm), Na Gaeil up against North Kerry (2.30pm) and Templenoe clashing with An Ghaeltacht (3.30pm).
