Kerry native Fionán Mackessy will make his Leinster SHC debut for Kilkenny against Galway at UPMC Nowlan Park this afternoon.
The Poc Fada champion starts at left half forward, just a few months after joining the Cats on the back of transferring from his home club St Brendan's, Ardfert to O'Loughlin Gaels. Mackessy is the first Kerry man to play in the Leinster SHC since Darragh O'Connell lined out for Dublin in 2019.
Elsewhere, TJ Reid is a notable absence from the match-day squad, while Adrian Mullen, Eoin and Mikey Carey all return to the starting XV, with the latter having served a suspension.
