O’Mahony’s made it to the semi-final of the SFC with a win over Dee Rangers on a wintery Friday evening in Meath Hill, with goals from Muireann Nelson, Orlaith Mallon and Megan Collins paving the way for victory.
Dee Rangers opened the scoring after ninety seconds before Denise McGrath kicked the equaliser a minute later following a good run from Charlie Murray and a play through Nelson and Ailbhe Leahy. Lauren Woods scored a point from play after being set up by Collins. An early goal opportunity from Dee Rangers was denied by a goal-line clearance from Sophia Fitherbert, followed by a great block by Neasa McDermott.
Collins set up Nelson for a tenth-minute goal which put four points between the sides and in the following two minutes, McGrath and Woods added a point each. Mallon raised a green flag and after a Nelson free midway through the half, ten points separated the sides.
The remainder of the half was even, with both sides keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Robyn Murray pulled a crucial save on the twenty-minute mark, keeping the momentum away from Dee Rangers. Charlie Murray, Mallon and Nelson all added points and eleven points separated the sides at the break.

Collins extended the lead early in the second half with a point from play after two minutes. The home side kicked two points in quick succession before Nelson pointed from play to keep the scoreboard ticking over for O’Mahony’s.
Coinciding with a shower of heavy rain, there was fifteen minutes without score before Dee Rangers converted a free. In this time, Murray pulled off a number of great saves to keep the advantage for her side.
In the fifty-fifth minute, Collins raised the third and final green flag of the match, ensuring the game was over as a contest. Dee Rangers added another score before Mallon kicked the last two scores of the match, leaving O’Mahony’s through to the semi-final.
