Dr Crokes paid a touching tribute to their late club-mate Jamie Doolan by bringing the Kerry Club SFC Cup to his grave yesterday.
County star Tony Brosnan scored 0-8 as the Killarney club defeated Na Gaeil by 0-20 to 1-12 at a windswept Austin Stack Park to secure back-to-back titles. And afterwards, the team called to Jamie’s grave with the silverware.
“This one’s for Jamie, always in our hearts,” a social media post read.
Jamie’s untimely passing on July 28 last led to cancellation of Kerry’s All-Ireland homecoming to Dr Crokes. A minor selector with the club, he had previously represented them at all levels and also played minor for Kerry for two years in 2006 and 2007, and U21 in 2008 when he won an All-Ireland medal.
