Replying To Doylerwex:  "Pretty bad first half. Too many wides but it's January. Disorganised but attitude was very good.

Much better in the second half. Foley and Roche in particular. Thought tucker did very well when he came on.

Defence pretty solid throughout. Simon Roche looks very comfortable at this level, but tougher tests ahead but we'll take that based on the level of experience in our 15."
You didnt make it up after? Good game against a pretty strong Laois selection, we were definitely better in the second half. Very poor Wexford support there, noone here from Wexford in Mcdonalds in Kilkenny, hopefully a better turnout in Oulart Thursday.

Replying To alwaysasub:  "Game was pretty much decided by Kevin Foley's class. Wex lucky to be 2 down at half time. Few others did ok, thought Sean Rowley looked dangerous, Wickham had a good second half, Mikey Kelly ok, Simon Roche in and out of it, same as Ross Banville. Disappointed not to see Jack Redmond on, I presume he was injured as we are yet again far too small. Regan took goal but did nothing else along with Dunbar. Quarter in Oulart on Thursday, interesting venue as not much parking."
I was up our attacking end of the pitch in the 1st half, and I thought both lads worked hard, won some ball, linked play. Ill watch it back when I get home, its different sometimes when you can rewind passages of play.

I thought Regan was ok, showed something here and there, won a few frees in the first half

To be fair, I watched on the tele so you probably saw more, I thought both were poor as they hardly won a ball, they weren't alone but as said above by another poster, first day out so I'm sure they will all get plenty of game time, you'll know after a good few games whether they are up to it or not.. To be fair there isn't many like you Viking going to as many games, it's a long season. Hopefully will make it down to Oulart on Thursday.

Happy with the win and the attitude yesterday. As Viking pointed out Laois did have a good few regulars playing so it was a good test for our young lads. It thought first half the ball wasn't really sticking for us in the forwards. We really upped our game in the second half . Kevin Foley was outstanding and deserved man of the match won so much dirty ball. Thought the backs did well throughout David Clarke , Eoin Whelan and Niall Murphy looked solid. I think if Eoin Whelan can stay fit he can be a big player for us . Eamon Wickham was good midfield . He's a player I've been impressed with for a while and I think he could end up featuring in the championship this year all going well. Richie Lawlor done well also. In the forwards Mike Kelly got through a lot of work . Wouldn't mind seeing him at his more familiar role of wing back against Dublin. Simon Roche was very good he's another player I think could start championship . Sean Rowley also did well and is another good prospect .The subs made a good impact too. Tucker looked good unlucky not to get a score and handed off two scores . I was happy with yesterday and a few players look like they have lots to offer . Really looking forward to Thursday night now. Hopefully the weather plays ball and the game can go ahead. Are we likely to see any regulars back in the panel for Thursday ? Cian Byrne and Jack Redmond were in the subs yesterday . Like to see Jack start Thursday see what he can do against good opposition

No I didn't unfortunately. The whole house has a winter dose, but thankfully got it on clubber.

Dublin and Carlow was tight for long periods so hopefully we get a big effort on Thursday and I expect to be at that one.

The lack of primary possession in the first half was concerning. As good as Kevin Foley can be he's not the best target for long puckouts.

Having said that I thought we used the ball an awful lot better in the second half.

Jack should be back Thursday, was resting a bit of a knock. Cian just getting back to match fitness. Mike Kelly played wing forward for Oylegate this year and seemed to do well there.

Is there a reason the game cannot be in Ferns COE .. assuming it's because the pitches are not enclosed?. No disrespect to Oulart but that pitch is very tight

Tucker looked very lively when he came on, made a big difference. Got out in front and got the ball up.

Tight for parking too not sure how they will manage it

If this weather holds there's plenty of parking at the top pitch.

First of a series of games between Wexford and Dublin in all competitions. Who knows, maybe even twice in Leinster! Hopefully weather doesn't force abandonment on Thursday.

Think Dublin had about half a dozen starting yesterday that would've played in Parnell park last April, so I'd say there could be 1 or 2 more probably back thursday maybe, ODulaing chief scorer with 11 pts and about 6 of those from play.

Wickham and Rowley impressed most yesterday from lads who haven't really played senior for Wexford before, with Mike Kelly I know that's his position for OG, would anyone else prefer to see him out the field more so towards wing back/midfield for us?

I'd like to see Simon Roche given a lot of game time in the league and think Rossiter will give it to him in particular against the likes of Dublin and Clare, hopefully he really steps up this year.

Good to be up and running again anyway lads.

Id expect Dublin to have 7 or 8 regulars starting Thursday looking at the team they had out against Carlow.

A brilliant opportunity for our young lads to show what they can do against very good opposition.

Agree with you on Wickham , Rowley and Roche. Looking forward to seeing all 3 get plenty of game time through the league.

Think 11 Dublin players who played against Carlow played in the AIQF win over Limerick last year. They are going pretty hard at the Walsh Cup it seems. It will be a good battle Thursday evening I'm sure, a good test for the younger/newer lads.

Surprisingly strong team yesterday. I suppose given the importance of the league Dublin and probably Wexford be putting their best boot forward. As will Clare. Not much time these days to experiment.

Personally I think its more important to find/give gametime/develop a few lads for our Championship team.
You are ahead of us in your development that way I think Barney.
While it would be nice to get promoted out of 1a Id rather reach a Leinster final given the choice. And for us I think it is a choice. If we play our best team/players as often as possible during the League we would have a great chance of getting promoted. But amateur players can't peak for a continuous period of 4 or 5 months, well actually I dont believe professional players can either, and some of our better players are also managing longer term injuries.
We need a bigger panel come championship, and we need our main men fresh.

Fully agree with our approach of blooding young lads at this stage of the year and through the league. On that subject I was trying to make out what is our panel likely to look like by the end of the league. We will have the lads involved in yesterdays panel competing for places along with the following.
Martins lads Jack O Connor , David Codd, Darren Codd and whoever else Keith calls up from Martin. One or two more Davidstown lads, Liam Ryan? Conor Hearne, Conor Foley, Cian Molloy, Shane Reck, Damien Reck, Conor Mac? Lee Chin, Mikie Dwyer?
Other than these lads cant see many others being added to the panel that's currently training at the moment

I don't think we have a choice but to experiment with who is and isn't available for us at the minute.

Greater to get a runout against ye at this stage though. We'll know where we need to be for league and Leinster anyway.
