Replying To Viking66:  "I've a feeling Portaferry will be fitter than Cushendall looked this year. They will need to be too, because Slaughtneil will stay running up and down the pitch for the full 80 minutes if needs be.
The odds are just bizarre tbh, Portaferry were very close to Cushendall last year, much closer than Slaughtneil were. Slaughtneil have lost Chrissy McKaigue since.
One big thing Slaughtneil have going for them is a tough semi final already played, I think that stood to Cushendall last year. Ferry will be going in cold."
It won't be for a lack of trying. The ferry will throw the kitchen sink at this, they'll have their challenges played like sneil before their semi. I expect a ferocious opening quarter and another high scoring game with teams conceding up the ball to a certain point (far '65) before pressing it.

Slaughtneil's fitness was unreal. They looked as if they could have played for another hour. Cushendall huffed and puffed and were blowing out of their proverbials even in the second half. A few of them definitely looked quite a few pounds overweight. McManus kept them in it. Without him they would have been absolutely hammered.

Wonder will rte pick it up after the success of the semi or TG4. Awkward time to show it on rte2 I'd say never seen a game that time and day on there? Final was on bbc iplayer last year if I remember correct

Will tomorrow's game go the way everyone is thinking or will Portaferry get the win I've a feeling Portaferry will win by 1/2 points as long as they can take their chances and keep the wides down and cut out the fouling it will be a hard game will slaughtneil play like they did a few weeks ago hopefully it's a good game

Only worry I'd have for your lads is that they are coming in a bit cold. Last year Cushendalls win over Portaferry definitely stood to them in the final. Other than that I'd imagine it would be very close. It's a shame Owens can't referee the game, thought he was excellent in the Semifinal.

Yeah he definitely had a great game hopefully the ref tomorrow lets it go tomorrow and we get a great final it should be

Cushendall didn't play any games between the Antrim final and the Ulster semi as they were nursing injuries. A couple of the young lads admitted they had shockers on the day. The semi was lost in the opening ten minutes, can't give a good team like slaughtneil a 6pt start and expect to win. Played home and away to portaferry in the league with a really weakened team and was only a couple of points in them both( Neil played neither) if Slaughtneil play with the same intensity they showed against the Ruairis then I can only see a 6 or 7pts plus win for Slaughtneil.
I also think the winner( if it works out) between Ballygunnar and Slaughtneil will win the final as I feel the other half is weaker. BTW I've nothing against Portaferry, I just feel that Slaughtneil are a stronger team.

You can never underestimate any Galway team in this competition. And the Leinster winners have reached 9 of the last 10 AI finals, winning 6 of them. Only saying ;-)

If Carey hadn't realised at H/T that he was letting everything go and adjusted their approach, they could easily have lost their game, which would have been a tragedy.
We need consistency in reffing.
Either body check checks, high tackles, trips and dangerous pulls are frees or they are not.
We can't have it both ways.

Portaferry will feel very unlucky yesterday played great first half and after 45 minutes those 2 quick goals changed the game few chances missed from frees but those boys should be proud how they played there is definitely an Ulster in them rest up and go again next year

Hard luck to the ferry men yesterday. Second year they didn't close it out. Did I read somewhere they were out scored 2-9 to 1-1 in the last quarter, surely it wasn't that much of a swing?

For sure. Very close the last 2 years. Slaughtneils superior Athletic Development probably told in the end, but I thought Ferry had the better hurlers.

They were indeed unlucky. Another great live advertisement for Ulster Club Hurling. Well done to all. Throughly enjoyable.

Where was their superior athletic development for the first 45 mins? They were second in every department up to that. Two quick fire goals hauled them back into the game and spooked Portaferry. Slaughtneil had more in the legs on the last 15 as they didn't expend much up to that.
