John McEnroe made an accurate statement a few years ago about the quality of Serena Williams in comparison to her male counterparts and was criticised for it,, he held firm though, fair play to him. If a male pundit lamented the quality of the recent ladies all Ireland finals in comparison to the mens we all know how that would have went down. Misandry is toxic and there's absolutely a double standard there, and a mature society would be able to discuss it properly. It's certainly got nothing to do with being "assured in masculinity" as some eejit claimed. Galway9801 (Galway) - Posts: 1942 - 19/08/2024 10:55:57 2565784 Link 1 |
Here we all are again getting angry because other people think we are angry when we weren't angry in the first place :D

It's abundantly clear that some of you are precious, maybe insecure because a woman (Sonia), criticised men despite it being technically and factually correct in the context she said it. Adding ifs etc and different contexts and hypotheticals and insisting you know the reaction is also not normal behaviour. What Sonia said is not misandry and to be honest it's pretty pathetic that people would twist the context to suggest that. Gender is relevant here in the context of mixed relay teams. The gender of the people commenting on it, or not commenting on it, or commenting on scenario's in people's imaginations is not relevant. This is childish schoolyard stuff. Grow up. Pointing out a double standard is a perfectly reasonable thing to do, whether or not that double standard is misogynistic or misandrist in its nature, and has nothing to do with being precious, as you put it or being "assured" you gender.

you're not comparing like with like, therefore it's not a double standard

But that's the thing Breff,,, I am comparing like with like. You just haven't figured it out because of the double standard you apply. Galway9801 (Galway) - Posts: 1942 - 24/08/2024 08:55:48 2566528 Link 0 |
Rashida Adeleke is running against the three girls (Paulino, Naser, Kaczmarek) who beat her in the Olympics tomorrow Sunday, in the Diamond League. (VM2 from 3.00 - 5.00pm). Interesting to see how she will get on. letsgetgoing (Roscommon) - Posts: 614 - 24/08/2024 21:11:27 2566612 Link 0 |
Nobody is comparing men with women only you in your imaginary scenario with John McEnroe. The original whinge was for Sonia correctly stating we need our male athletes to be better for the mixed relay. This is objectively true, you getting offended by one of Ireland's greatest ever athletes saying it is beside the point. Calling it misandry is pathetic
